We were paid in full the month before the wedding. It was a great feeling to nothave to worry about anything.

Congrats! We were also full paid up by wedding day with money set aside for tips and day-of costs. It’s a great feeling! I hate debt, so that would have really bugged me. Now you can just focus on the last of the planning and then getting married!!!!!

Is there an option to not pay in full before getting married? I would think everything would need to be paid weeks before the actual event. I couldn’t imagine going into debt for one day.

We will be, but my dad is paying the big bills. He kept me on a strict $10k budget so everything after that is mine to pay… or gifts from my fiance’s family.  I think I’ll probably end up putting $2-3k of my own funds into it with bridal party gifts, favors, diy decor, hair, etc… all the things my dad doesn’t consider a “neccessity” haha.

MrsN14:  I assume a lot of people take out a loan or put things on credit cards…. This isn’t something I could feel okay doing. I don’t even do this in my every day life… the only loans that don’t get immediately paid off are cars/houses for me.

This is definitely our goal! As a matter of fact I just started a job (after a year of not working) and we are going to be pretending my checks don’t even exist and they will go towards paying off our wedding stuff as we go. So hopefully over a year we can get it all paid off.

We will.. we are saving a certain amount every month and paying what we need to as time goes on — we’ll be done paying by the week before the wedding. It’s close but there’s no debt involved 🙂

We just pay for stuff as we go, so I can’t imagine there will be any more costs after the wedding…everything has to be paid beforehand and we aren’t using a credit card (well, sometimes but the balance is paid each month) or a loan or anything that we would need to keep paying afterwards.

Melodydoodahday:  that must be an awesome feeling! We did it a little differently. We have all the cash for our wedding saved. Instead of paying it in full, we got a credit card with ridiculous cash back awards. So we pay the vendors their payments, then pay the card off monthly with our saved cash. We’re almost “making” money off paying for our wedding. (Not really, but some back is still good!)

I kind of thought this was the norm, maybe it’s more a regional thing.  We wouldn’t buy anything or spend money on anything we couldn’t pay off straight away or by the payment due date including wedding, cars, anything day to day.

Yes, we were also paid in full on the wedding day, as well as money set aside for Honeymoon.  it’s a great feeling to not have to worry about it after the Wedding day is over. Good for you guys! Enjoy your day!!

Yep, we budgeted to make sure we would be debt free on the wedding day. Currently, we have spent right around 18,000 and we were able to pay it off in 22 months. We will be 100% debt free 1 week before the wedding, with an extra $3000 in cash for the honeymoon splurges.

Yes.  Our only expense is the court fee at City Hall.
