Hey Bees! What did you budget for your bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts? My fiance and I are split on this. I just read on a wedding site that we should spend between $75-150. He thinks it’s outragous. I think for the guys – yes, for the girls – no.
I just tallied up my bridesmaids and assuming the robes come in with are a good size for everyone I would have spent about $35 a person.
- Keepsake photo box
- Keepsake charm I made (I handdrew all their names on wood tags and wood burned them)
- Monogram wine glass (I did these myself)
- Bath and body works items
The only real cost to the girls was their dresses – $170 – and travel (and maybe hotel). My MOH is driving 13 hours, 2 are driving 2 hours, 1 is driving 5 hours, 1 lives in town.
- Shoes – everyone already had a nude pair they could wear
- Hair – optional, I just suggested they wear it out of their face for photos. But it doesn’t matter
- Make up – optional
- Hotel – I offered the girls a place if they came in for the RH dinner. Only 2 took me up on it. The RH is not required. All but 1 is bringing a guest anyway and we didn’t have room for their guests. (1 also already lives in town)
- Gift – I told them they didn’t have to. 3 girls already said they aren’t giving us a wedding gift.
I think I should give them a gift cerficate towards their hair and make up – but not all the girls are getting this. In fact, 2 aren’t getting anything. 1 is getting hair, 1 is getting make up. My MOH is getting both.
Fiance thinks this is stupid and the girls are putting the costs on themselves because they could have said no to being a bridesmaid and just came as a guest or not come at all.
They all live in town and close by so no real travel and no hotels. Their tux was $168. Only 2 have to pay for their tuxes. 3 are having their parents pay. Their families are all invited to the wedding so their parents will provide a gift – again, not that a gift matters.
- engraved mug from Etsy
- gaming or superhero t-shirt
So that’s about $25ish a person.
He thinks we should spend more on the groomsmen because unlike the girls, they don’t get to keep their tux.
So thoughts, what are you paying for everyone?

I have six BMs and have a budget of about $35 per girl. In the weddings I’ve been in I’ve just gotten like a make up bag and lip gloss, probably $15 total so it’s definitely not expected for a bride to spend more than $20-30 on their girls, BUT it is very typical to have 6-8 BMs and the bride is usually 21-23 and typically not super well-off.
For the GMs, FI is planning on getting an engraved mug and maybe a money clip for his 6 GM + Ushers. He’ll probably spent about $20-30 per guy.
I’m not offering to pay for hair or make up, it’s completely up to them if they want it done. To me $100 is way too much to spend on BMs unless you just have one MOH or something.

We definitely spent less on the groomsman. I think my husband spent $50 or less on his 5 groomsmen. I spent about $150-200 on each of my bridesmaids and I had 6. I’m not crafty and my friends aren’t into handmade/keepsake type things so I got them all robes, makeup bags stuffed with VS gift cards and makeup, and gift cards to each girl’s favorite store.

@MrsN14: That makes me feel a little better! Thank you! I’m on the fence on getting the ushers anything (one is very vocal about his disppoval of the wedding) but fiance says we shouldn’t. They are his cousins anyway. His mom says we need to treat them like groomsmen. However, they can wear whatever they want – preferrably a suit – and already coming wit their parents to the wedding so there’s no travel cost on them.
@gelaine22: Oh wow! Those are really great gifs. If I had only my MOH and another girl I would definitly do that.

I’m getting them a pashmina for the day($15 each)
Picture Frame from Ikea($5 each)
Necklace(that they don’t have to wear to the wedding!) = No more than $35
DIY Personalized Hanger($10 total)
= $65 each plus hair and make up.
plus, I’m paying for hair and make up done.
the groomsmen are getting a $50 gift card to wherever(not my problem!Lol!)

I spent about the same, however i also paid for their hotel room for the nightbefore the wedding and breakfast on th day of. I ended up getting them a tea pot and matching tea cup sets from a place my sister worked, She used her discount and i think it was about 40 per girl.
