Call.  Explain that Mr. X is your photographer and that you understood that you paid a premium for him.  See what they say.

I would respond (ETA: it’d probably be better to call, like PP suggested) and let them know there must be an error because you had agreed to pay the premium to retain the studio owner as your photographer. If they resist, tell them you would like the premium calculated out of the final cost.

Is there a cost breakdown in your contract where the premium is referenced?

Cancel now – it’s a common scam.   They’ll hire a cheap unknown and pocket the money.   Better to lose the deposit than lose the moments.  Threaten Small Claims court for the 1/3.
