I'm having a really hard time finding a good photographer but won't cost me a fortune. I yelped wedding photographers and found a company called orange photography that was pretty great but can't seem to find a happy medium with them (quoted $5-7K). Do you have any recommendations for a good photographer who's willing to work with me? I'm getting married in Sonoma on 4/19/08.
dimaanophotography.com <--He's a friend from HS. I don't know how much he charges. I believe he only take pictures and provides a CD. His email should be on his website so you can ask him more questions. I didn't ask him to take pics at my wedding because I didn't want my friends to "work" at our wedding. Especially since I haven't seen him in a long time. Of course like a true photographer he brought one of his "babies" and took a few shoots for us. So sweet! Check out his website. If you go to the wedding section you'll see me on the 3rd page, at the top left hand corner with my dad. SOme of our photos are spread out in the wedding section. Enjoy!
Did the $5-7K include an album? What kind of products or services are you looking for and what's your budget?
It can definitely be a challenge to find a top level experienced photographer whose prices are low. Generally speaking you get what you pay for when it comes to wedding photography.
However, don't give up! You may want to look through some of the local California photographers on the ISPWP website, and you may want to consider hiring a photographer outside of California who travels there. That gives you a bigger pool of photographers and a wider selection of prices and packages. Good luck!
Travis Hoehne (Miss Pomogranate's wedding & Miss Penguin's e-pic photographer) is located in Norcal and his prices are reasonable in my opinion. I am in communication with him to shoot e-pics and he has been very responsive. Here's his website <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #008000; font-family: arial; font-size: 13px">www.<strong style="text-decoration: inherit">travishoehne.com.... good luck!
Let's try that again. Travis Hoehne (Miss Pomogranate's wedding & Miss Penguin's e-pic photographer) is located in Norcal and his prices are reasonable in my opinion. I hired Dorothy Hatchel for my March 2009 wedding. She has been awesome so far - extremely quick in responding to email and correspondence. I think her packages start at 2K. www.dhatch.com
I love Jason Q Tran Photography but he is in Southern California. I think he starts at about $3K. I believe he also travels to northern California. You have to check him out. His work is unbelievable. He is not going to stay at this rate for long. Good luck!
I HIGHLY recommend Sandra Reid. She did my photos and she's WONDERFUL to work with. If you check out her blog my epics are the ones in July @ Stow Lake. Let us know if you end up finding someone.
Jerry Yoon Photography (www.blogjerry.com) is very affortable and so talented!! You can search him on the boards and find some info also. He shoots with his gf, Ingrid, and they are both so easygoing and talented. I wanted him for my wedding but he was already booked!
Don't know if you've already found a photographer, but F.C. Wong is fantastic! We had our engagement pics done by him and he worked with us to create a custom wedding photography package to fit within our budget!
our photog was ryan willis and he did a beautiful job! our package was just under $4k for 6 or 7 hours of coverage, an album, one or two prints, and e-pic shoot. he does have packages at lower price points and he'll work with you to customize to your needs. one of the great things about him is that brings two assistants, both of whom take pictures, so it's almost like you're getting three photogs in one. my one caveat is to make sure you have someone at the wedding with your shot list to make sure he gets them - he forgot to take my one shot that i really wanted!
Ventureout Photography is a great company that charges $1000 for the entire day. They are based in Washington state and will travel. You should check out their website.
