Fiance and I are have come to a decision, that due to timing issues, we most likely have to change our wedding date or re-examine our wedding reception plan. We have put down a $2,600 deposit on the reception hall. Our wedding is almost exactly a year away.
Have any Bees out there ever cancelled their wedding and gotten their deposit back? Help Please!

What does your contract say? We booked and changed 3 different venues, and all were either willing to refuund up til a certain point or allow them to be used at a later date if just being postponed.

What does the contract say, and do you want to still use the same venue but move the date around?
Since it’s almost a whole year away… they can also get someone else for that date. If I owned a business, I wouldn’t keep a deposit if the person was cancelling a year in advance.

I think you’re going to get a bunch of different responses on here. I know most of my vendors so they’d be flexible if we had to change the date, but the only way you’ll know is to contact your venue. I would give them a call, versus an email, and let them know.
However, if you put a deposit down, then you signed a contract. And that’s what they’ll say.
What’s the reason that you can’t or don’t want to make your current venue work? That’s a lot of money to lose.
