- Wedding: January 2014
Well we decided to have our wedding soon after we engaged (7 months), and after months of planning & putting things together, with literally no help because we just moved to this city and barely know anyone except my fiance’s a few coworkers.
My parents and friends are all in AZ, and we are in CA, even it’s not that far, still, I didn’t experience any bridal saloon moment and ended up ordering the dress online (again after three months of stressful waiting I finally heard back from the designer today that dress is made & ready to ship). My budget is tight, but all the vendors I talked to has been super expensive, I can’t even find a good price for my hair & makeup (pretty much everywhere I talk to would cause me minimum service with $600+ to be on site), florist is had to get a hold with, interviewed several minister, and one got so mad because I asked to see his license (seriously? plus I ddin’t know CA doesn’t require a license to be minister).
Oh and did I mention as a graphic designer myself, I finished our invitation on August, and right after I finished contact the letterpress shop and paid for the job, my fiance asked me to hold back till his mom sees it at the end of September. Even I have managed to send the invitation to print on the beginning of Oct, the shop just told me they still haven’t start the job and it will be another month of waiting, and the RSVP date is 1 month after the invitation arrival…
This morning when I read through a wedding blog post, with a very simple intinmate ceremony with only the bride & groom, the minister, and the photographer out on top of a mountain, plus a 10 people reception dinner after, I’m start thinking–why the hell did I decide to throw a party when I don’t even like parties? I really stress out, just want to cancel the whole thing & get married in the court now…
