hi all —
mr. man and i are newly engaged (yay) but are running into some issues with settling on a reception site … namely, do we go with a hotel venue that is really convenient on many different levels or a site with a lot of personality that might end up being more of a headache in terms of renting a tent/catering/etc for our 170ish guests?
in any case, we were thinking about setting up some meetings with boston-area planners to help us figure out what might be best & most economical… any recommendations out there? or advice from those of you who have gone the tent/catering route?

I had a tent wedding in Newport, RI in September ’07 and our DOC, Colleen Kimmel was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I have written about her numerous times on WB, so you can probably just search her name on this website. Her web address is http://www.classicweddingsne.com. Let me know if you need any further information. I have a formal recomendation letter that I send out on her behalf that I would be more than willing to send to you.
Best of luck,
Edited to add, she is MA based in case the ‘Newport, RI’ part of my post scares you away 🙂

I am getting married on 10/4/09 and I hired Carol Silverston. She is strictly word of mouth and does many events through the Emmanuel Temple in Newton. I’m not Jewish but she had many connections and can get you discounts on many aspects of the wedding. She is also a florist and all I have to pay for is the flowers – she comes HIGHLY recommended from those who have worked with her. Let me know and I’ll give you her contact information. her email is [email protected]
I picked her over Tangorra.
