A Wedding planner would normally help with the entire wedding planning process, including vendor selection, negotiating contracts, maybe even wedding design. Different planners will offer different packages but their fees are higher than a DOC since they do more. You can also hire a wedding planner on a "per hour" basis if you don’t need that much help, otherwise, it can get costly.

A DOC seems to be what you are looking for. Someone to make sure the day runs smoothly, direct people, answer questions for vendors so you don’t have to, pack up things at the end of the night, etc.

I highly recommend my DOC, Christine Viola from Exquisite Affairs! She is a wealth of information and replies to your emails within 24 hours and usually much sooner than that. I shoot her emails as questions come up, including etiquette questions, vendor suggestions, timeline issues, basically anything. She even put together a floral proposal and sent it out to 2 different florists to get price quotes for me, which is above and beyond her job as a DOC. Her fee was $600 for 2007. I’m not sure if they went up for 2008.

Otherwise, for NYC, the fees I’ve seen usually range from $500 to $1000 for DOC. Or you can get a close friend who is very organized to be your DOC too. I had friends who offered as a wedding gift.

Good luck and happy planning!

Well originally when I hadn’t set a date yet, Christine also recommended Fran from Dazzling Affairs (http://www.dazzlingaffairs.com) to me. She comes highly recommended on the NYC knottie boards.

Annie lee from  Daughter of Design is a name that pops up a lot amongst the NYC brides too.

I would definitely give Lauren at Celebrate Flowers a call. She’s incredibly sweet, easy to be around, and will help you with anything you need on your wedding day. She’ll help you come up with a schedule for the day of and will be there to  make sure everything goes as planned. I’m working with her and she’s brought up things I never would have thought of. Her studio is on west 29th between 5th and 6th ave. Her number is 212-736-2102.

Hi – this is a question for anyone who has worked with Exquisite Affairs.  How long does it usually take for someone to get in contact with you after you fill out their contact form on the website?  I’ve filled it out twice now in the past week and not a single email, not even a confirmation…

hm that’s odd. I just checked my gmail history and I received a response within an hour. It’s also unusual because Christine has a blackberry and she definitely replies to ALL my questions within 24 hours.

Does anyone know if Christine is on vacation or something?

I know they are revamping their website so maybe the online form doesn’t work properly. You can try her email:

It worked!  She said her website has been down all week.  Unfortunately she’s busy on my date but she says Tara is available.

Has anyone here worked with Tara from Exquisite Affairs?

We got married a week ago and used Alina Tabari of http://www.nyweddingcoordinator.com

Based on our experience with a day of wedding coordinator – in NYC – you should not have a wedding without one. Alina saved the day for us – more than once!

I had my wedding this weekend and Nina saved the day in ways that the bride never even knew about. As one of the bridesmaids I realized that my best friend was way over her head. Nina is a church member who everyone knows is very organized. Her own wedding is next year and she has everything ready (including seating chart and every minute detail you can think of). I immediately thought to ask her to help out one week before the ready. She whipped my best friend into shape very quickly and took the reins and dove right in. Saturday morning she was on sight at 7am and made sure that everything was perfect. We arrived 45 minutes late because of last minute emergencies although Nina had hair and makeup started promptly at 8am. Nina had the photographer take pictures of the wedding gown and table settings, etc to catch up for lost time. The guests didn’t even know that we were running late. No one had to worry about anything and we didn’t even know that the florist almost left without decorating the cake because it arrived late. Nina saved the day with that one. I dont know how I just know that everything was perfect! She only costs $400 and was well worth every penny and more. you can email her at [email protected]

P.S. Added bonus is that she is very artistic and even made the ring bearer pillow and matching photo album. It was a tiered pillow with jewels frings. PERFECT. Every detail was perfect.

Alexandra Townsend! She is fantastic! I’ve heard great reviews of her and as of now she’s been with me every step of the process. She is also a phenomenal florist. Her DoC fees are $300, which is great for New York. Message me for details.
