I would love to find a wedding planner in the DC/Northern Virginia area. I’m looking for someone in the reasonable range. I think my budget for this area would be considered ‘average’, so nothing super extravagant.
Also, what I would loooove is someone who can almost ‘pay for themselves’. I’ve heard that good and well-known planners can do this, because they have connections and reciprocal relationships with good vendors. So while you pay for the planner, you make up the cost in the discounts.
Any suggestions are welcome!

Hi CircusPeanut! I know there are a few wedding designers on the board (myself included) that are available to travel to build their portfolio. I have a lot of friends that are recent brides in the area and can assist you with vendor recommendations until you are able to find someone to help.
bee user Simplyunique021 (or maybe 21) is a nationwide planner and is willing to travel.
It is true that planners know the best vendors and oftentimes the vendors that we work with work well together. Whenever you decide to work with a planner, make sure it is someone and I HTH!!

I read your other post about the planner and am just DYING to know who it is! 😉
I’m in the same area and last week made a difficult decision between two incredible planners. I met with 3 before deciding.
I think your budget sounds completely reasonable for the area (and close to mine!) and while you can’t have every single thing you want, there won’t be too many corners to cut.
I have been a planning machine since getting engaged 3 months ago and have met with (I swear) every vendor in the area. If you need any advice/opinions, I’m happy to share them! I made a spreadsheet of a ton of different vendors in the area that I would be happy to send you. Direct message me if you’d like any info.
