- Wedding: August 2014
So, I am having a semi destination wedding. I emailed my planner last Monday and told her I would be in the town where my wedding is next tuesday and asked for venues to visit. At our initial meeting we talking about 4 potentials, 3 of which were ruled out for various reasons, she assured us there were loads of other options and so we signed a contract and paid a deposit.
Fast forward to now, I didn’t hear from her until I emailed again last night, 6 days after my first request, and she sent me the same list of 4 as our first meeting. Meanwhile I’ve been doing tons of research, and have found 13 potential spots. I email her back and tell her some of the spots I’ve found and explain again, why some of her suggestions aren’t what we are looking for. She sugggests two others, one of which is everything we don’t want, and the other which may be out of our budget and is only ok. I look on the one that is ok’s website and cant find pricing, so I email and ask her to figure out if it is in our budget or not so I don’t waste my time tomorrow.
Am I expecting too much? Shouldn’t the wedding planner be doing this. She gets paid 10% of every contract we book, I feel like she shouldnt be paid for the venue because she hasnt done anything. She isnt offering to come to the visits, the one she suggeted from her original 4 needs some type of privacy screen from a road. My fiance suggested renting trees, and she said at our first meeting she would price that out, but hasn’t. Our first meeting was at the end of June for an idea of timeline and the wedding is next August.
