- Wedding: August 2011
Given that the wedding is in a different country to where we actually live, we hired a wedding planner. The weren’t that many options for that city so I went for one that had videos of lovely looking weddings online that she’s organised in the past. In the beginning all was well and she seemed very keen and on the ball.
The first signs that worried me were that she couldn’t really suggest that many alternative venues to the ones we had already found ourselves through a google search. But at the time I sort of assumed that since it’s not that large a place there probably aren’t that many venues.
In any case, she continued being keen up to the DJ hiring point. She suggested a single one who is apparently her friend. He seemed overpriced and I have not formally agreed to get him thankfully but she was definitely very pushy about him. And that’s pretty much where it ended.
Since then I’ve asked her for some seating info from the venue which took her two weeks to find out (and apparently was too busy in the meantime to tell me she’s looking into it). More recently I’ve tried to get her advice on some paperwork to try figure out if it’s the correct documents but that also seems to be taking forever. And we have no timeline for the planning, no mention or discussions about cakes, decoration, transport or basically any details. Maybe it’s still early (wedding is in August) but shouldn’t she be taking at least some initiative?? Or am I just paranoid?
