I would go directly to her boss and start by asking what services you are entitiled to for the $1500 you contracted for. If there is a discrepancy in the services you received and those that are included address it immediatly. I would also request that he boss take over from here on out. If she is going to be the one at the wedding istead of the person you were originally dealing with then she should be the one workign with you over the next few weeks. I would also have a list of your vendors, time line and thier responsibilities prepared for the boss. This way she can take care fo the last minute confirmations and the items that your planner should be doing.
It totally depends on your contract with her. Does it say she'll do decoration, etc., or did you hire her to be more like a day-of coordinator?

Hi Bees, I need your help. Ok, so I am having a stressful issue w/o getting to into things since I am at work and I shouldn't be doing bridal woes :)...I have this planner who I hired about a year ago. She started off well but now sucks. I am at a loss at what exactly a wedding planner does because everyone has been giving me different "theories". She has helped try to research our wedding venue, which only gave me about 4 possible spots. I actually got our venue myself, our photographer, my videographer is getting booked and I even am doing the transportation. She only e-mails me so little that I had actually had to pull her boss aside and tell that she sucked and she better get her stuff in order because we are not happy. This was in March (my wedding is in May 2008) and now she started to e-mail me all the time but not really helping just bull crap stuff...who to call, did you do this.....all my vendors are contacts of mine...and to make it worse out of no where she moved to GEORGIA! Now I am in virtual reality planning and I cant stand it!
I wanted a planner who would come with me to appointmments...help with the decoration. The final straw is that I haven't heard from her since Friday and I am freaking stressed, I am 4 weeks away, been doing everything myself and I don't know how to get another planner. I cant afford it and she was already $1500.
She persuaded me to hire a vendor that does candy buffets (don't ask how I got suckered into that) but it costs $800! When I asked wasnt she supposed to help with that and some the decor, she said she delegates and she will have a lot going on that day and candy is expensive this is a great alternative....blah, blah...blah...now she is tellign me she doesnt know about being at my wedding, she may send her boss. Final payment of $500 is due at my wedding and I am not paying her. This is a really short version but just read in between the lines and you will get the entire story.
So, wedding bees...what does a planner do, actually...am I expecting to much...what are the boundaries...and I cant fire her, I paid to much now and need someone there...any advice?
