@AmandaJK:  I have been planning things at a distance b.c. i go back and forth i think if you lived in texas you will have an idea of where you want already thats half the battle

so you need a friend who u trust to taste food for you but if you grown up there and and know the area u prob know the good venders and well

I’m planning our wedding in Detroit from Australia! Honestly, I think it’s been pretty easy. I don’t have any comparison of course, but I think it would be harder to actually be there. When you can’t see every venue or meet every vendor in person, you just have to be more laid-back about it all. I sent my mom and MOH to see our reception site, but everything has been booked sight unseen. Online reviews (mainly wedding wire) helped me enourmously. I think this would be much harder ten years ago!

My best advice is to be as laid-back about everything as you possibly can. There’s not a lot you can do from afar, so if you don’t let things rattle you all that much in the first place, your stress levels will stay in check.

I think the worst part about it all is more emotional – not having your bridal party or family around for the usual pre-wedding festivites or things like shopping for a dress. But since you’re still within a weekend visit distance away, you might not have to worry about that!

Good luck!!!

@AmandaJK:  Hi there, i planned my 4 day wedding from Sydney, Australia. My husband lives in Fiji, where the wedding was held.

I made  total of 4 planning trips back and forth. It’s hard!

All you can do is your best to plan.

My tip is to rely on emails but to keep your emails with suppliers to the point and purposeful. You’ll find you will have a much better result if you email them direct questions only when necessary.

You can check out my recap here if you like.

@AmandaJK:  I would break down and wanna do a girls weekend to see the dresses on them(thats me I am really looking forward to that ) when is ur wedding will you be heading back to texas for thanksgiving or christmas? (if your wedding is after those events) maybe you can squeeze in a shopping trip black friday or after xmas sales u might find some great formal dresses on sale too

as for the guys u prob gonna have to breath down there necks by text and phone a lil but they can handle the ordering of things it wont be too too bad hopefully … just make sure someone u trust tries the food if u have neer had ur venders food flowers  they can do alot with photos  and u likely know make up and hair ppl so just plan to do test hair with ur old hair dresseer next time u visit the area

Been planning my wedding in SC from Spain with family in OK and the UK :-/

Can you say coordination

Advice …. do your research and do it early. Also let you fiance help, you will need him. Even if he hasnt got a lot of time, let him take the little things and their opinion can be so helpful. Alot of  Men have a way of looking at simpler things that we dont.

Websites: I loved loved the knot for vendors, wedding wire wedding websites are great for keeping everyone up to date and online RSVP, plus they have pretty vera wang designed template 🙂 The bee has been my number 1 help though, just browsing through its history I found my florist.

@leecy87:  Hahahah…i know…i so protested against it. I actually added blue bunting to tie it in with the theme. It worked out well in the end.

Yeah I did/am doing it. It hasn’t been that bad; we had a long engagement but I was writing my dissertation, applying for jobs, and we moved across the country (we were out-of-state from the wedding before, now we’re even further) all during that time. Just stay organized and realistic!
