Search on google for some wedding planning checklists! I planned my wedding in 4 months, so it can be done! Especially since you’re not having dancing & a full meal. Start looking at venues, marriage license requirements for your area, florists, catering/cake, invites.. the list goes on!

Venue, DJ, cake, photograper, caterer, florist, wedding party, wedding party attire…those are some of the major ones you need to get done ASAP! The other details can be worked out pretty quickly.

My wedding was planned in 5 months and I didn’t find it stressful at all… I rather preferred getting it all done and not having the extra time to freak out about anything.  Use checklists, do one big thing every weekend and something small 5/7 days a week and you’ll be just fine!

To get married, you need:

  • a person to marry (check!)
  • clothes to get married in (check!)
  • a place to get married
  • a marriage license

You’re halfway there!

Extras include:

  • people attending your wedding…in which case, you need invitations
  • a place to have a reception
  • chairs and tables to sit at
  • food and alcohol
  • photographs
  • decorations

I started planning a month ago my wedding on April 5th. It can totally be done and I feel like I have a ton of time left. Main things are a venue, a DJ and a catering company, if your venue won’t do the food. With those 3 things, you have a party!

Oh gosh, it’s been easy for you!? I’m considering whether or not I want to aim for this July, or next. It’s so hard to coordinate with out-of-towners and differing venues. Plus, the whole dress thing is a nightmare…

Glad you are having such an easy and enjoyable go at it! I wish I could relate… lol

@ghiagirl893:  Thanks for the advice! I agree that in the end it comes down to checking with a few select people for availability, and then the rest of the guest list you just have to hope can make it. People will prioritize if they really want to be there, and if it’s impossible, that’s just unfortunately gonna be so.

Update on my plans: We paid the deposit on our venue, and set the date! Friday, July 26th, 2013. 🙂 I’m so happy we got that out of the way; it was a huge stressor. Ultimately I was able to talk the venue down to within our price range, which was super important to me because I literally loved the venue so much that at the end of the day I would have paid whatever price they set, so I had to play it cool and make them think I would walk if they didn’t negotiate.

Today we also hired our bartender (who, btw, is amazing and so reasonably priced!) who is going to plan our entire bar, and get us a deal that allows us to return any unused bottles. All we have to do is actually buy whatever he tells us is necessary. And we also are about 90% set on our catering, which happens to be at the best restaurant in town. Since my sister happens to work there, they are letting us use the lunch menu for our evening reception. The menu is gourmet sandwiches, homemade chips, cream of potato soup, tossed salad, and cookies. They just have the yummiest food ever! Oh, and it’s only $8.50 pp! It’s really all shaping up nicely! I think it’s just a bit scary at first looking at all the needs to be done, especially when it comes to choosing a venue that does not have on-sight catering or bar services.

Anywho, this is the first time I’ve shared this info, so thanks for letting me indulge and probably annoy you. Sorry for the thread jack! How is your wedding planning coming along!?

@ghiagirl893:  Hey girl, i have mine pretty well mapped out and we just got engaged in December, our wedding is May 13th! So we were a fast planning process lol.  I took most of the stress out of mine by choosing Southern Grace Bed and Breakfast for my wedding( http://www.southerngracebb.com  )  The do weddings and they virtually take care of everything.  It is awesome!  Also they have the best breakfast ever and you can rent the entire inn out for a wedding and have up to 14 guests stay the night 🙂  it is going to be amazing!  So if you want to check out something like that it will eliminate all the stress , Juts a suggestion
