I’m a unique bride in that I have never been to a wedding before and now I’m trying to plan my own! So I’d appreciate some feedback from those of your who are not in my situation and have been to weddings before.
We are creating a playlist to play at our reception venue. We are not having a dance floor or DJ, it’s a small up-scale billiard hall in an old factory building and will just have the music as background music. But I’m finding the lyrics to the songs I like aren’t necessarily “happy” or “pro-relationship”. Would this be something that you would notice or do you think you’d just enjoy the songs the way you would at a restaurant?
Thanks for your input!

Are there any instrumental versions of these songs out there? Personally, I would probably notice the song (moreso if it had lyrics and/or if it was a very popular song) and wonder why anyone would want to play that at their wedding. But that may just be me.

My fiance and I are both really into music (him more than me) and we tend to notice songs and lyrics everywhere we go. When putting together a playlist, try not to focus too much on including your top 10 favorite songs; just go with what feels right for the venue and the mood you want to portray. Good luck!

It would seem I’d be one of the few who would not notice the lyrics. With all the hubbub, it’d be the last thing I’d notice. And if I did happen to notice, I’d just attribute it to being a popular song or just a song someone likes. It wouldn’t set bells and whistles off with me in the slightest.
