Looking for advice from other brides with thick, curly, long or frizzy hair. I did my hair trial last week and it looked beautiful at first. After 2 hours of outdoor engagement photos, my hair looked a bit frizzy, less polished and less elegant. I’ve got naturally thick, long, curly hair and plan A is an indoor ceremony, outdoor reception (unless it rains).
Does anyone have any thoughts on keeping these kinds of styles looking picture pretty? The hairdresser put a solid amount of hair spray in but perhaps it needed more?
Or should I just go ahead and do an updo to keep everything looking fresh for hours? My hair appointment is at 11:30 and the ceremony is at 5…reception will be 7. Decorating the venue from 2 to 4. Any thoughts would be great!
The dress, for reference:

That dress is GORGEOUS! I think more hairspray and try not washing it the night before. Tends to work for my naturally curly hair. My hair gets more relaxed and less frizzy and holds hot iron curls better, and even works well when I plan on flat ironing it.
Hope this helps!

The only advice I can offer in this situation is that you personally not participate in the two-hours of decorating activity. Is there any way you can delegate that task to others whom you trust to oversee this for you?

Maybe a humidity/frizz fighting serum after you wash it and definitely wash the day before the wedding and not again. I would also mention to your stylist and see if she has any products she can prep with before she styles to help.

allie1775 : I have long, curly hair. And it was 95% humidity on my wedding day, and despite the copious amounts of hair spray, it was a frizzfest. You need LOTS more than hairspray – like an entire bottle of anti frizz serum. Or at least, that’s my experience.

Before my wedding, I started getting keratin treatments and it prevented any day-off frizz (my hair used to get SUPER frizzy in any type of humidity).
I would recommend checking Groupon for any deals as it can be a pricey service.

partyof2 : After a keratin treatment, can hair hold a curling iron made curl? I’ve heard different things

I don’t have an answer but I LOVE your dress.

Try not washing your hair. I have very similar hair – second or better yet third day hair seems to be frizz free for me 🙂

allie1775 : I have very fine and frizzy hair. The thing that works the best for me is using a shine spray. I use the CHI brand normally, but I’m sure there are even better ones than it. Ask your stylist to use some and give you some to touch up later in the day if you need to.
