I thought I’d share pictures from our little June 15th wedding in Brooklyn! (It feels so weird to be on this side of the wedding fence, I feel like I was getting engaged just yesterday…)
Our wedding was fairly relaxed–50 people, with a short ceremony officiated by my husband’s best friend. I made most of the decorations–I went with paper flowers, fresh cut roses, and candles.
The past 3 months were chaotic–I was finishing up with school and finalizing wedding plans, so I have to say that while I’ve experienced post wedding sadness, mostly I feel happy and relieved that the flurry is over and we can focus on each other and get back to our normal routine. We had lots of out of town family at the wedding, and I found the experience of making sure they were taken care of logistically to be quite stressful.
In the end though, I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day–the weather cooperated (the only day of sun that entire week!) and the event flowed pretty smoothly. I had no planner and it took place at a bar so there was no site coordinator–just the owner, the caterer, and me! If I had it to do over again I probably would have hired a day-of person, as my being responsible for just about everything got in the way of my ability to relax and enjoy myself to an extent. (Did anyone else experience this sensation?) I thought that a little back garden 50 person wedding would be easy….joke’s on me! But all in all I was very lucky in how everything turned out and I loved our wedding.
Anyway, the Bee played a big role in helping me to stay sane and make decisions throughout the planning process. Much love and thanks to you all!

@Buttercupmcgee: Ours went well too. A couple of mishaps with the DJ but it was awesome regardless. I’m still getting used to being called wife and saying husband when I refer to him, but it’s awesome to think we’re married now. Plus all the wedding planning stress is all over with, so we’re so much more relaxed all the time. I’m still all full of newlywed excitement though.

@HeatherMM: Yay! It is SO weird to use the word husband! I don’t feel nearly that grown up inside. Congratulations to you!
@MissStumptown: Thank you much!
@bleusteel: Thanks–i certainly slaved over the paper flowers for a looooong time so it’s nice to hear! 🙂

@Buttercupmcgee: Thank you! I know what you mean, I tell him every day “honey, we’re married” just because it still feels a bit surreal.
