- Wedding: May 2014
I didn’t post here much, but I did lurk a lot for inspiration, so.. I figured I should repay the favor by sharing about my own wedding. Which was realy just the greatest day ever. 🙂
The night before the wedding myself and my bridal party (2 bridesmaids, 1 MOH) headed over to the hotel and all stayed the night together there. We had to be up by 4:30am the next morning to start getting ready, so I wanted to make sure I got to bed early. I did somehow manage to get in bed around 10pm, but I was just too excited and could not fall asleep! I think I maybe managed to drift off for an hour before it was time to get up. Turned out okay, though. There was so much adrenaline going on in my body that I felt up and ready to go the whole day!
Around 7am my mom arrived, as did the photographers.
Here’s some of the getting ready pics:
My husband and his groomsmen were getting ready in another room at the hotel, too!:
We each also took some group pictures at the hotel while we were there:
I was a bit worried during this part because while the girls and I were in the lobby taking our photos, the boys were not too far away enjoying the hotel breakfast. We were going to be doing a first look a little later, so I really didn’t want him to see me yet. Thankfully my MOH ran over and told him he couldn’t leave the room, so we were able to get our photos done and to leave for the venue unseen!
Once my girls and I got ot the venue, we took more group pictures and some solo portraits of me.
Eventually the rest of the boys arrived and we did our first look. I love this sequence of images, lol:
After that we took a bunch more photos with our bridal party, as well as family portraits (though I won’t bore you with them!):
We also got to start some of our romantic pictures at that time:
Once we finished those pictures, we went through a ceremony rehearsal with our officiant and maitre’d. And after that, the ceremony time was approaching! My husband and I were brought to the bridal suite to wait there, and a couple minutes later he was called down. I was stuck in the room alone for a couple minutes, and THAT’S when I really started getting nervous! The butterflies were going crazy – the anticipation was just too much! But thankfully I wasn’t stuck there too long.. I soon got called down to wait to walk down the aisle with my dad. It was actually pretty funny when the doors opened and my dad and I started to walk down. He whispered to me “I don’t like being the center of attention!” and I was just like “Don’t worry, Dad, nobody’s looking at you” lol.
Thankfully the weather was PERFECT (high 70s and sunny), so we were able to do our ceremony outside in our venue’s gardens. It was lovely. I really loooved our ceremony music, too. We used instrumental versions of songs done by the Vitamin String Quartet, and they were beautiful. The bridal party walked down to “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” and my dad and I to “All You Need is Love.” It was awesome!
Our first kiss!:
Once the ceremony ended, we were led over to a private table with cocktail hour food for us to try. It was so nice to have that moment to ourselves and celebrate! All the food was quite delicious, too. We then joined the cocktail hour with our guests. Near the end, we were taken away to finish our romantic photos and to get to see the reception room before everyone else entered. Some of my favorite photos came out of that:
Thennn finally the reception began! It was a blast. Since we had an afternoon wedding (11am-5pm), I was originally a little concerned that people may not dance or let loose as much. Um, nope! Our family and friends were going crazy, lol. It was a nonstop party until the last minute. We also had a photobooth with props, which was a hit!
Our first dance song was “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne. I looove that song, it was awesome. For the father-daughter dance, my dad and I danced to “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton because my dad is a HUGE Clapton fan. It was actually pretty funny when it came time for the father-daughter dance… my dad NEVER dances. Like, ever. I actually don’t think I’d ever seen him dance until that moment, lol. So when it came time for the dance, my whole family was chanting his name.
A friend of mine also volunteered to do our videography as part of his gift to us. This wound up working perfectly because there likely was no way we were going to be able to fit a videographer into our budget! Anyway, he did a great job and the trailer he made for us is here: http://vimeo.com/98779847
Anyway, that’s it! It was the absolute most perfect day. You always hear that something is bound to go wrong at your wedding, so I was expecting something, but… nothing! At least nothing that ever made it into my awareness, lol. I wish I could relive the day over and over again!
