@pittsteelergirl: I went into phipps and was able to speak to an events coordinator who was very friendly and helpful. I got information from her, so I would suggest going in or calling on the phone (speak to her and she will probably email you the information.)

you have your cocktail hour in the tropical forest and actual reception in the hall.
I think that is what you would do for a typical reception. If you are having a smaller reception/cocktail reception though there are some other options.

I was looking into an outdoor ceremony there and I would have had to have my reception outside there too, which wasn't what I was looking for.
Unfortunately I don't know any numbers but Phipps is BEAUTIFUL! I would love to get married there. Ceremonies in the garden, especially, so pretty! Good luck!

@goldie602: My sister got married at the mansion at Lindel Hall. It's outside of Pittsburgh. They have a beautiful garden where you could have the ceremony and inside and outside of the mansion for the reception.
I looked into the Center for the Arts (in Shadyside/Oakland) it's right beside a park and was super nice. They only have room for outdoors stuff so they were no help to me but the lady was extremely nice!
I also looked into Lingrow Farms. A friends' sister got married there and loved it. There was also some stuff in the South Hills. And I looked into the Altar Bar in the Strip District amoung many, many other places.
Are you only looking for something outdoors? You could rent a pavillion at one of the local parks? A co-worker did that and she loved it!
I decided to go with the James Center in the West End. It's a converted school so the recepetion is in the old auditorium, it's pretty cool!
Oh, also I looked into the Priory knowing very well it would cost an arm and a leg and their WINTER pricing (I'm getting married next January) was a minium of $15,000 for a Saturday wedding. I almost died. lol
I am actually getting married at Heinz Chapel and our reception is at Phipps. It is $4000 for the tropical room and special events hall. Outside is around 3400, both those are based on Saturdays. Our wedding isn't very big, 110-130 guests. For just a wine/beer offering thats $1800. Then, the food starts at $85/per person. But, if you go with their food, a wedding cake is included either from bethel bakery or prantls. With the food, table clothes and all the silverware and china is included.

We're getting married at the Lodge in North Park. It's a 2-story building that has a large hall upstairs and a smaller bar area/kitchen downstairs. Outdoor ceremony (there's a lawn in front and a large patio in the back), indoor reception.
We booked it for a Friday and Saturday, 8am-midnight--only $300 a day. Of course, my dad and I had to wait in line at the park office from 3:30-8 am to reserve it, but it was worth it.
@lechevalnoir: Are you having the ceremony and reception at James Centre? What is their pricing like?

I was wondering if anyone from the Pittsburgh area knew any pricing info for a reception at Phipps Conservatory. I am looking into a Spring 2013 wedding. I emailed them for pricing and they haven't got back to me yet. Any help would be appreciated.
