Alot of the time, they don't announce them at all! I've been to a couple of weddings where all of sudden, the bridesmaids and groomsmen are just kinda... there, granted, it may be kinda awkward but you could do that.
I think coming in and going right to the first dance would be cool, then have the DJ announce you as husband and wife after the dance. I've seen where the next song would be the bridal party song in which the DJ announces each couple as they come out to the dance floor and join you guys, who are already out there.
I really want the DJ to announce our parents and party and then as our first dance song starts introduce us as we walk in and start our dance. I agree that the line of people is kind of cheesy and I have this image in my head of walking in, being announced and everything and then feeling really akward with ALL eyes on us without much to really do. Also, if everyone was already socializing and whatnot, I wouldn't know how to get them to be quiet and watch when we start our first dance if we did it later on like most do.

Hi Bees! So I am back for further advice. You know when the reception starts how typically the band/dj announces the parents and the bridal party and then the bride and groom and they dance or walk into the reception in that order to some funky music? Well I would like to avoid that. No offense to anyone who likes it, it's just not for me. Reminds me of sweet 16s or bat mitzvahs.
To give an idea of things I am going for a classical elegant feel. Think Fred Astaire waltzing. I like the idea of my fi and I coming out and going immediately into our first dance. But what do I do about everyone else??
So the big question is...what is a good alternative?
