Helenberrycrunch had yard games at hers that went real well and looked like they were having a blast. I have also seen similar ones with wedding bingo, trivial pursuit (each table was a team), and there are a ton of fun games that you can play. You could also have contests like hoola hoop, musical chairs (it's way more fun when there are grandma's play - those old ladies get fiesty). Anything will be fun as long as you set the right atmosphere, you set the tone and the rest will follow. It might help if you wait to feed them til you start the ball rolling with something fun, it will set up the rest of the night and make them want to stay to see whats next.
@tksjewelry: Trivial Pursuit sounds like so much fun! And musical chairs with grandmas
@mia_doll: I think these sound like super fun ideas! I can't top them.
We're not having dancing at ours. But we will have a photobooth, dessert bar, candy bar, buffet brunch, cigars and a jazz band. I'm not sure what you mean by "Christian wedding." My FI and I are Christian, but we're not getting married in a church. Are you having the reception in a church? Did they give you a list of things that they won't allow you to do inside?
The reception is at another location but the church doesnt believe in dancing. My views differ however. The Pastor and his family are invited to the reception. In the past other couples have danced at their wedding and it has been clear that he did not agree. Not only would he and his family leave but next there would be somehow rolled into his sermon. Soooooo to avoid the conflict there will only be two dances. Me with my father and me with my new husband.
In recent new developments are guest list is growing so we need the space. Even if we wanted to dance we just cant because of space unless we cut our list from 250 to 200 which is becoming increasingly a hard task to do:(
This is totally out there, but my fiance and I are having our ceremony at the church, and then a simple lunch right after. very small... we are then taking pictures after lunch... giving guests a couple hours to change, or do whatever they want. our "more fun" reception (without dancing) will be bowling... =D yup. But also, our wedding theme is 50's/vintage. =D so it fits right in.
My pores jus raised wen i read your posts, in a good way..lol... I am also wondering how to make my reception work also because i don't want a boring ceremony since I too will be havin Christian songs, Contemporary Christian Songs. PM me cause i am so encouraged by your photobooth and slide show ideas.
here is my post bout this

Hey Bees!
I am getting married in July and I need some creative ideas that will keep my guests busy. At most of the Christian receptions that I have been to people just eat and go home...BORING....one of my friends had a photo booth. Since I am not up for copying I would like something else.
I am dancing with my father and my fiance to Christian songs, Contemporary Christian Songs and thats it...no more dancing. I guess we could do a slide show...what are bees doing at your reception?
