My mom was asking what FH and I wanted for Christmas. She has our MASSIVE (it really is a little obscene) wedding registry – we have 2, 1 at The Bay and 1 with her – she’s a Pampered Chef rep – I told her that she could get us stuff off that list as the majority of it is stuff that we actually need (like new towels and new kitchen items). She thought that was completely inappropriate. I don’t see the big deal, it’s a wishlist – who cares?
What do you think?

I don’t see the big deal either. I think it was a perfectly reasonable suggestion on your part.

I’m not sure what was inappropriate about it. It’s not like you are emailing your registry out to people saying “hey buy us this for Christmas”. Your mom is being silly.
We got married this month, I hope that people buy us Christmas gifts from our registry!

Stuff you want and need = Stuff you want and need. What’s the problem?
Unless she was hoping people would buy all the Pampered Chef stuff from her, and she’s ticked at the thought of buying it herself?
I got married on October 5, and if my family buys the remaining things on our registry for our Christmas presents, I’ll be thrilled!

Maybe she is like me and refuses to buy everyday items for holiday presents? To me holidays are about spoiling someone. If you want a toaster go and buy yourself one, if you want some inappropriately expensive handbag/perfume/spa day then I will get you that.

I don’t think its a big deal.
I would like to mention this: I eloped this month and my birthday is coming up quickly. I doubt anyone is going to give a crap about my birthday this year! I’m a little sad! Atleast your mom cares about separating the two!
