My fiance and I picked out wedding bands for our elopement on March 8th. I ordered mine first (since it was cheaper and we are paying for it ourselves) with plans to go back and order his today after he got his paycheck (and yes, I know we could have just gotten them together, but for some reason I always feel like things are cheaper if I buy them separately. it hurts to spend so much money, even if it’s totally worth it).
Anyway, I ordered mine from Jared’s last Saturday and was called that it was ready on Wednesday. Since we have a teeny girl that occupies a lot of my time, I decided to just wait and go pick it up when I was ready to order his ring.
I showed up, and asked to pick up my ring. First, they couldn’t find it! It was put in the wrong drawer. Then, they had ordered the completely wrong ring. I had asked for a 14k while gold, and they ordered it in yellow. Now, I have worked in retail and customer service related jobs forever and ever, so I know that sometimes mistakes are made (especially when you put in orders on a busy Saturday). I was not mad. I just wanted them to order my correct ring. The lady who was helping me brought over the manager. He tried to foist me off on another sales associate, attempting to blame him for ordering the wrong ring since this sales associate had talked to me the first time I went in to decide what I wanted. However, he is not the person who ordered the ring for me. The sales associate was told to find out when the ring would be ready. The sales associate tried to tell me that I had asked for a yellow gold ring- nope. My order sheet clearly says white gold. Then they tried to say that they had put a yellow gold one on hold for me while they ordered the white gold one, and that my ring was on the way. The sales associate was told to find out when the design department would have my ring ready. They didn’t know anything about it. The manager (finally) took back over and said he would fix it. I went to the waiting area and played with my baby for AN HOUR while this dude sold jewelry to another person. I was SO PISSED OFF at this point, but I am not really one to make a scene (especially since I don’t have my ring yet, and I paid for it in full when I ordered).
Obviously, I don’t want to order any more jewelry from these people (it’s the only close-ish one to us). Any suggestions on jewelry stores to order an extremely simple plain 14k white gold men’s milgrain wedding band that comes with a warranty like Jared’s has. The only reason I didn’t just straight up order it online is because I would prefer to have the ring covered in case we need to get it resized, repaired, treated to make sure the white gold stays white, etc.
