So I have a .8-something karat princess cut solitaire with a bezel and shoulders coming up to equal height with the bezel. The ring was designed by my fiancé to fit my lifestyle and be virtually indesctructable, essentially. It’s impeccably cut and the band is entirely platinum.
My ring is very simple, and I don’t mind that, but we’ve talked about how for my wedding band I might get something a little more blingy, just to balance out the simplicity.
However, there’s a liiiiittle problem with the design of the ring.
This is a terrible quality photo, but you can see how my fiancé, having all the good ideas he had, designed these interlocking claws on the botton of the ring that help to let light through. Awesome, helps my ring to be super sparkly. However, on both sides of the ring, the claw that scoops up and is on the outside (so the one starting from the right and ending at the bezel on the left) sticks out a little bit. What we’ve realized is that a regular flat band doesn’t sit flush with it, or will only sit flush with it under very specific conditions. We talked about a slightly bent band, but I’m a little neurotic about some things and it would bug me for life if I had a bent wedding ring that could only be worn with my engagement ring.
So today I was shopping around and I saw this.
It’s Blue Nile’s infinity twist micropavé wedding ring. It only goes halfway around the finger, as you can see, so it can be resized easily (incase I suddenly transform into Fiona from the Shrek movies) and what I realized is that because it’s an even number of twists that there’s a natural indentation right where my engagement ring would fit in.
However, I had originally just been hoping for a pavé band that was thin and would bring just a little bling to it, this is maybe a biiiit more bling than I think might look good with my ring.
I was just wondering if any other bees had very simple engagement rings with much blingier bands, or if anyone had any ideas for rings that have natural little dips in them that might accommodate my engagement ring’s design?
There are some ‘floating’ designs that would probably work, but they all seem very expensive as I can only really see them done with larger diamonds, and some marquis-shaped bands also look like they could be an option. I’d love to see what other bees have for their sets!
Edit: I’m about a 5-5.5, with fairly long fingers, and I’m definitely looking to stay under the $1200 range.
