- Wedding: July 2012
Lately I’ve become even MORE obsessed with ring porn, since there is talk of possibly moving the legal part of the wedding up to this summer and saving the big party for next year. I’m OK with this, if that’s what we decide, but my stipulation was that we were BOTH going to be getting our rings for the ceremony. Now that the idea of getting married in the next few months is in my head, it dawned on me that I seriously NEED to figure out what the heck I want to do for a wedding band and I am completely torn!! I know that the ring isn’t the most important part, but it’s still important to me that I have something that I like (if no one else does, that’s not my problem). I’ve been to jewelry stores around, but all their rings looked the same and I was always too overwhelmed to remember to snap pictures. First off, I should say that while my current (temporary) engagement ring is CZ and sterling silver, my wedding band will be a forever wedding ring in a stronger metal and diamonds or moissanites (depending on the style I choose), and in a year or two when my not-good-for-everyday-wear engagement ring needs to be replaced, I’m undecided on the style I’d go with (another halo or a princess with a pave band) so whatever band I choose has to look good with either, just in case. My ring came with a matching band, which I could use for stacking or fun, but I don’t like that it matches SO well because I think it blends and looks like one ring with an odd split shank. I LOVE non-diamond bands because of their simplicty, and I love the bling that comes with diamond bands. I’ve always said I wanted a plain band, perhaps with an engraved design (which I fell in love with online) but I don’t know how it looks with my ring. (My first marriage, I went with plain and sometimes craved diamonds. When it got ruined I replaced it with diamonds, and missed the plain. I’m crazy that way.) Luckily for me, between myself and my sister being complete jewelry fanatics, we own a bunch of rings that all look different enough, so I snapped a bunch of pictures for you! Which style / idea do you think looks best and why? If I can get an idea of what looks best or what looks terrible, I know where to start looking…but as of right now I am LOST!! Any positive input would be greatly appreciated!!! Please be kind, I know I’m obsessed…but it’s the ONE thing I need to focus on right now
For reference, this is what I might switch my engagement ring to, next to what it looks like now.
#1 – This ring technically has diamonds, but it’s the closest I could get to a plain band, although I think I’d like a milgrain edge.
#2 – This one has the engraving that I was looking at online, although the one I like has flat or milgrained edges instead of being open.
#3 – This one *almost* matches my ring, but is thicker / has bigger diamonds and doesn’t blend together as much.
#4 – This one is my current favorite, I love how it has diamonds AND a milgrain edge…but I don’t like how it doesn’t line up with my engagement ring on the sides.
#5 – This one is a lot like the previous one, although with princess cut diamonds instead of round and no milgrain which I would want (this was my wedding ring from my first marriage though, so if I got something like this I don’t know if it would be weird lol)
Finally, I do love the stacked look but I think my fingers are too short to pull it off…
