So.. my engagement ring came as a set, but I have my grandmothers ring I want to customize and use as my band. Should I go ahead and wear the set as an “engagement set” and the other ring would be my band? I dont know how the people around me would act being that I have only been wearing the one so far. Any advice would be great 🙂 Below is the set.

People would assume it’s your wedding band. If getting a lot of questions and having to explain yourself would bother you, I would wait to wear it until after you are married. Then you can wear it as a right-hand ring, stacked with your other rings, as a stand-in when you don’t want to wear your grandma’s for whatever reason, have the stones re-set into some other jewelry, or sell it. 🙂

I have two wedding bands as well (although one isn’t an hierloom like yours) and I won’t wear either of them until we are married. It tends to encourage too many questions and too much confusion.

What an amazing keepsake! You should consider setting the stones into a right-hand ring or necklace. You can pass it along to your children someday without giving up your beautiful engagement/wedding rings 🙂

@lafala: That’s the same suggestion I would make!
Personally, I would feel too weird wearing any kind of band with my e-ring, regardless of whether or not you plan to wear it as your actual band. If it were me I would hold off on wearing it until after the wedding. Or, as the pp said, have one of them made into a right had ring or other piece of jewelry.
