First, which shoes do you like better (putting comfort aside)? If the strappy shoes are your favorite you can get Dr. Scholls inserts or other types of inserts/ball of foot pads that will add cushion and take away some of the extra space that allows for slippage.
If you prefer the second pair that are more comfortable than a dress can always be altered, for a price. You might want to check with your seamstess on how much an inch or so might cost you and decide. It may be that your dress might not even need any additional changes with only an inch, try it out and see.
Finally I am going to be three inches taller than my FI on our wedding day because I have the most amazing shoes (Charlize by Benjamin Adams)and refuse to settle. He is only an inch taller than me making me taller than him on most days anyway. He doesn't care, I don't care so why should any one else? If it really bothers you take your shoes off for pictures that don't capture your feet and it will even out.
Thank u for the reply and suggestions!
I like them both, and was set on wearing a red/maroon/fuscia shoe (which matches my bridesmaids' dresses), got the first pair ("Bandolino Women's Thefinest Sandal" in wine color), loved them, but started wearing them and they don't have much support / I slide around b/c the straps are loose. Which you're right, I could fix with inserts.
The second one is the Nine West Qutiepie, which I love love love, and think the gray would look neat with my dress (David's Bridal Style # CWG324), which is a tad vintagey. (I'm not wearing the jacket that comes with it.) I received the Nine West yesterday, slipped them on, and they felt perfect. Like a second skin. Even though they're 4.5 to 5" heels (but have slight platform, which is usually more comfortable for me anyway - and don't look like stilettos despite the height).
My wedding theme/style is tropical/Hawaiian, so I think either style shoe would work.
I'm really torn on what to do! Maybe I could wear flats for pictures, and whichever heel I choose for the rest of the time...
Oh also, the ceremony itself will be outside on a grassy area... flats might be better for this, anyway? But I don't really like flats and I feel more confident in heels :)

@calihoneybee125: I Loooooooooooooove the Nine West shoes (considering my entire closet is filled with Nine West shoes, I am not at all biased). I also think they go a bit better with your dress as the burgundy ones are a bit heavy for such a delicate/vintage dress (which is gorgeous BTW).
If the Nine West shoes are more comfortable then go with those and perhaps just put on flats when you are taking photos. As for during your reception and the grass no problem, just get a pair of SoulMates.
See problem solved. :)
@Treejewel19: Yeah, I was wondering about the heaviness of the dark color too... but fellow Bees and a few friends said they loved them. As do I. But, I agree, the gray is better with the dress. Would it be weird to have gray shoes that don't match the bridesmaids' gray shoes (they all have matching CK strappy gray heels)?
I've never heard of SoulMates... I'll check them out!
Thanks again!
Melissa
@calihoneybee125: If you like the burgundy ones too why not bring them along and have some of your close up shots taken with them as well? If brides can have two dresses why not multiple pairs of shoes?
Oh and I don't think anyone will notice the difference in gray unless you lined them up side by side with your dress up to show. Besides you are the bride, aren't you supposed to be a bit different? ;)
The extra inch may not make too much of a difference depending on the style of dress. I know with my fluffy skirt I got the extra big crinoline to shorted it (still have to hem.. I am SHORT!) maybe if it is fluffy the alterations person can slightly reduce (if it still looks okay to you) and it will lengthen the skirt, not alot or it will change the shape, but just adding a slight extra poof I was able to reduce the hemming by a little more than an inch. I want to sell it after so trying to keep it as long as possible, and I LOVE poofy gowns!
@Treejewel19: Ok, you're right - I'll bring both just in case - but wear the gray. I might sport some flats down the aisle then change into the heels for the reception to avoid the heels-in-grass issue.
:)

Ok, so I got these 3" heels to wear with my wedding dress. I love them, but we're taking dancing lessons so I've been wearing them to the lessons. I've realized that they're kind of loose and hard to dance in (they're strappy, which I thought would be great and easy to keep on).
I used these shoes for my first alterations fitting, and it turns out the length of my dress doesn't need altering because it's exactly the right length with the 3" heels.
Now I'm thinking about this other pair of heels which I love, which are very comfortable and not strappy but seem to be easier to keep on and move in. The problem is, they are an inch taller than the others.
Will my dress look too short in these taller shoes? What can I do to fix it? Can they lengthen my dress? Or should I just wear the other (shorter, potentially less comfortable and harder to walk/dance in) shoes?
Another problem is that the groom is only about an inch taller than I am, so I am worried about being that much taller than him if I wear the taller heels.
Please help! Thanks!
