STYLE for photos persepective… and venue and length of dress and how tall you both are. Comfort if both of you are around the same height and you don’t need the extra inches, and if your shoes aren’t being photographed or you don’t really care about that shot.

I went for style for my pre-wedding photos and the ceremony, then changed into comfortable (but still pretty) shoes for the reception/dancing.  The tricky part is keeping the same heel height (at least approximately) so your dress isn’t dragging.  In the end, I think my photograher and I were the only ones who even noticed my shoes, so it probably doesn’t really matter!

I went for style over comfort (although they weren’t too bad the night of)

That ended up biting me in the butt, because a bunch of people wanted to see my shoes the next day, so I wore them to breakfast in the hotel, and by then they were NOT comfortable.

@Nikkimcq:  I used some heels that I’ve had for a while for my wedding.  I wear heels a lot so they were pretty broken in.  Honestly, if you have the money (or dont care like i did), I chose style.  I chose the shoes I wanted in pictures and to show off to everyone.  But getting ready, in the car, and after we ate/had the first dance, I kicked off my shoes.  I didn’t wanna dance in 5 inch heels so I went barefoot.  No one noticed except when they saw my shoes over near out sweetheart table. lol.

I know my sister bought some flats she had from home and wore those at her reception this year. My SIL went barefoot as well at her reception.

I’m not sure how its looked upon in your circle.  We’re upper-middle class and no one looked at us funny lol.  But then again, even if they did, don’t care =)
