So as most know the hubs and I ran off last weekend on a whim got married. There was very few ppl there (10 to be exact) and now a few ppl at home are asking about wedding gifts. My MOH and I talked about maybe a wedding shower or a small backyard bbq style reception. What would you guys suggest? Should I have some sort of wedding shower or small reception here. I worry it will look like we are fishing for presents and I really dnt want to go out and register. I would love suggestions

Since you're already married, I wouldn't register or have a shower. However, a small reception (meaning informal get-together) would be fine, I think.

I think a small reception would be fine too.  And if people want to get you a present they will but a reception would be better than a shower.  That's what my fiance's family does when people have smaller weddings (his brother did a ten person wedding, we'll be having a thirty person one).  They had a small get together for his brother with food and pictures and a few people gave them small gifts (framed wedding pictures) but they didn't register or anything.

I'd have the BBQ reception. The shower seems a bit off, as you're already married. BUT a BBQ reception would be a great way to celebrate, include people who couldn't go, and give those who would like to give gifts a great time to do it.

Also, I WOULD register. If you don't, you could end up getting some really odd things, plus people like to know what you'd like. It gives people focus and makes it really easy to give a gift.

We are doing a destination wedding and having a reception at home afterward, so we registered.

BBQ reception sounds wonderful!! And if it were me, I wouldn't register anywhere because I don't want people to think we're fishing for gifts either. After all it was a wedding on a whim. Maybe if everyone knew before hand that you'd just do that and have a small reception afterwards, then it would be more acceptable IMHO to register. Have a great time and congrats on getting married!!
