I have my first shower this weekend- yay! I just wanted to get some ideas for a hostess gift. My future sister and mother in law are throwing it for me- so I want to pick something nice/thoughful. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Personalized stationary is always nice. I get great deals at http://www.giftsin24.com.
Or a gift certificate for a massage/facial at a spa to thank them for all their hard work!

I saw one girl who bought really nice stylish umbrellas for the hosts as a play on the "shower" idea. It was cute.

my first shower is in a couple of weeks… its being thrown by all of my bridesmaids (and mothers too i think, they’re all being vague). Do i buy them ALL hostess presents now? or just wrap it into the bridal party gifts? Thanks!

I’m making personalized goccoed notecards- my first shower has SEVEN hostesses so I needed something inexpensive!

I am having a shower next week being thrown by 5 ladies. Rather than try and find an inexpensive gift for all of them, I made them each a set of personalized stationary with Microsoft Publisher–each person gets their name in a different color. If you use the "postcard" blank template, it will print four flat cards on an 8.5 x 11" piece of paper. Turn it into a PDF, upload it to Kinkos.com, print it out on cardstock, and buy inexpensive envelopes to match and you’re set (8 notecards and 10 envelopes)! I’m giving them this and a personal note.
For other parties and people that are hosting guests for the wedding, I’m making big gift baskets filled with Trader Joe’s items. My mom is saving baskets for me and I’ll make dessert baskets (with chocolate, meringues, wine and cookies) or breakfast items (scone mix, maple syrup, fancy tea, etc.), or gourmet party mix (bags of thai peanuts, interesting cheese and crackers, gourmet sausage, wine). I’ve found I can do an incredible basket for around $30. Tuck in a personal note and a guide to the wedding weekend and it’s perfect. To guinkd, I would give gifts at the shower and the bridal gifts separate so it will be clear that you’re thanking them for both events.
