FI wants us to make a wedding site. I'm kind of against it but I caved because he's got a good point - it's a good way for everyone to get info easily. We picked theknot because it's free, easy to navigate and we can password protect it. So now I have to fill out all these pages. Wondering if you guys can help.

    1) How did you word the description of yourself? So far my "About the Bride/Groom" section kinda sounds like a eulogy. Undecided

    2) Anyone know how to upload pictures for the bridal party? I was able to upload them but then I dunno how to import them onto the description page.

I've lurked the site of some of my friends to get examples but most of them leave that info blank. I think if we're gonna do it - do it right, right? Any ideas? Many thanks.

I used The Knot as well, and I just cut that section out completely. It sounded like I should post my resume or something!

I haven't tried uploading any photos yet, so I can't help you there.

@Dancy: I'm using The Knot too.  Easy and free.

I just kept the wedding party pictures in the photo album section and captioned them.

Here's my about us section, maybe this will help (removed personal info for anonyminity):

We have been together for almost seven years, and have been living together for five of those (wonderful!) years.  We currently live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan with our two cats, Liza and Maude.  We love living in the city and can't imagine living anywhere else.

HotTeachertheCity was born and raised in XXXX, New York, a small upstate town about 45 minutes from Albany.  He attended XXXXXX School.  His parents, XXXX and XXXX, continue to live in XXXX, where they are both retired.  HotTeachertheCity is currently a technology coordinator at The XXXXXX School, a private all-boys school on the Upper East Side.  Previously, he was a technology teacher at The XXXXX  School in Manhattan and XXXXX School in Rockland County, New York.  He graduated from The College of St. Rose in 2003 and obtained his masters degree from the New York Institute of Technology in 2006.  He is currently working on his second masters in administration at Baruch College in New York.

HotChildintheCity was born and raised in XXXX, New York, a small city just outside of Albany.  She attended XXXX Elementary and XXXX Jr./Sr. High School, graduating in 2001.  HotChildintheCity's parents currently live in Latham, New York with their two dogs, Lucy and Desi.

HotChildintheCity is currently a senior writer at blah blah blah Mutual Funds. in downtown New York.  Previously, she was a Writer at other financial firm.  HotChildinthe City graduated from Marist College in 2005 and is currently working on her masters in Corporate Communications at Baruch College in New York.  In addition to her day job, she also volunteers at the Center for Animal Care and Control in New York City, and is also an aspiring horror movie critic.  Her interests include running, sewing, reading, and of course, watching horror movies.

Thanks for the info ladies - I guess I'll keep trying.

@ hotchild - thanks for posting this! I'm glad yours has a more formal tone to it too. I saw some people getting all mushy about the wedding on their pages & that's not for me.P.S. - Marist '00 Holla!! Go Red Foxes! (too bad they suck).

I used wedding wire & kept everything short & sweet. I also wrote in 3rd person, IMO I think it flows better.

On wedding wire it was broken up into titles, so "Bride/Groom" "How we Met" "Proposal" so just to give you an idea of what i did, here are a few examples.

Also, to make things just a little sweeter, I actually wrote our nicknames under the bride and groom part, for example, my husband calls me Munchkin. So under the "About the Bride" I wrote " T's Little Munchkin."

"About the Bride:" "Bride's Name" is the daughter of Dad & Mom Names her brother is Name  She was born November 17, 1983 in Washington D.C. and grew up in Germany, New Jersey, and Oklahoma. She graduated Cum Laude from Texas Tech University in 2005 with a Bachelor's in Sociology. She currently works for "Blank Company" as the Education Program Coordinator for United Way's Destination Graduation Program. "Bride's Name" loves to scrapbook, dance, and play board games.

"How we Met:" "Groom's Name" & "Bride's Name" met one early morning in June 2004. "Bride" was playing sand volleyball at Raiders Pass Collegiate apartments with a few friends and soon realized she had lost her shoes. As she was searching the court, "Groom" was walking back from the hot tub and decided to stop and help her. The spent the rest of the night sitting on the grass talking and laughing. "Groom" asked "Bride" for her number and they immediately started dating soon after. They dated for a little over 6 months and made things official and became an "item" in January of 2005.

@  hotchild - yep! But if you graduated in '05, I was gone a year before you even got there. Class of '00 - I have my 10yr next year (OMG I'm old). I've been up there a lot to visit friends who live in the area but just not to campus. Haven't seen it in about 3years & heard they changed everything & it's practically a different school... no fun. We thought about getting married in the Chapel too but then I remembered that you can only fit like 80 people in it. LOL

@ Annie - That's a cute story about how you guys met. Ours is waay too long and complicated to read through and most of our guests know it. I think I'm having a hard time because I'm trying to keep everything to a short paragraph. I like the 3rd person idea though, I might steal that.

@Dancy: Actually it looks pretty much the same, IMO.  Except they changed some apartments and such and added lots of new ones.  I went to the bookstore when I was in Po-Town for another reason.  Too bad I wasn't there long enough to fit in trips to Jelly-Belly Deli, Noah's, Darby's, Backstreet, Foxhole, Doughboy's, Marina's, etc. etc. etc. ;o)

Hah! Too funny - Oh how I miss Noah's 10cent wings and falling in the mud at Renny's. My brother actually met my SIL at the Derby in the 80's - that place has been around forever. I can't believe FoxHole is still open, that place was a $h!+hole 13years ago! LOL We should try & run into each other alumni weekend. That'd be funny!

For our about the bride/groom section, we actually used one of those "Friend Survey" emails that go around - i.e.

    Favorite sandwich?
    What characteristic do you despise?
    Favorite item of clothing?
If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go?
    Favorite brand of clothing?
    Where would you retire to?
What was your most  memorable birthday?
    Favorite sport to watch?
    Etc....

Funny enough, now whenever anyone sends me those emails, I just reply with a note about how lazy I am and the link to my wedding site.  ;)
