- Wedding: April 2013
None of this is set in stone, but this is our plan for our wedding next spring (once he officially proposes sometime in the next month!!! aah!!), we are planning now since it’s about a year away but are waiting for the ring to come in/him to propose before we tell family/friends:
I’m not really sure what to do as the site we want for our ceremony is at the hotel we are going to ask guests to stay at (all of our guests are from out of town (wedding is on the east coast/shore, none of our friends/families live here, we live in a city the location is a small new england town north of the city) and will have to rent a car anyway to get from the airport to the hotel 40 min away) and the reception is at one of two other sites. We can’t have the reception at the hotel because they only allow afternoon receptions for a limited number of hours, and we want a “real” reception (evening, more than like 2 hours, etc), but we can have the ceremony whenever and the site is breathtaking (and the hotel is fantastic for us and all our guests).
The sites we are looking at for our reception (we will make a decision when we go talk to them in person) are 5.1 miles away or 2.5 miles away from the hotel/ceremony site. We are not planning to have more than 50 people TOPS (hopefully more like 30, but you never know). Are we required to provide transportation for all our guests, or could we just let them drive and give them cab numbers in their welcome bags (this would be like $7 for a cab if each person took their own, which I doubt)? It is extremely expensive to provide transportation for all our guests, but we don’t want to be doing something wrong by assuming that they can drive themselves/carpool with a DD/take a cab (since they’ll have cars anyway). What should we do???? I looked into renting a trolley but it would be like $5000 sine we would use it to go from the ceremony to reception then again from reception to the hotel.
