@ania11:  modern? I don’t know what music is considered modern, but I can suggest some songs?

My father passed away so I had our DJ make a video montage of pictures from when I was a baby with my dad and I chose Michael Buble’s Daddy’s Little Girl to play in the background. Its  beautiful song.

I am dancing with my mother to Louis Armstrong What a Wonderful World

My FI is dancing with his mother to Celine Dion Because you Loved me

I also like Somewhere over the Rainbow by Israel for mother/son or father/daugter

@ania11:  Im commenting, but mainly to follow this thread, because I am curious what others are picking too!!

With that said, our last dance, or maybe first dance of the night will probably be Time of your Life by Black Eyed Peas…is that more of the modern you were thinking?! If not, I will think of more suggestions!

Currently, we are at a loss for father/daughter or mother/son dances.  I am leaning toward You Raise Me Up by Josh Grobin with my dad.  HOWEVER, it is more of a tribute to my mom, whom passed away. That song was played at her funeral…so I am not sure if it will be ‘too much’ sadness along with it.

Neither of us are particularly close, or should I say overly emotional with our parents – I was only exceptionally close to my late Mother, so finding the ‘right’ song that is not too sappy is really hard!!

@ania11:  don’t they have a non-cursing version of Beautiful? LoL

Our first dance is I don’t want to miss a thing by Aerosmith. Thats always been “our” song

Were doing Stealing Cinderella by Chuck Wicks for father/daughter. We couldn’t find any new ones for this type of dance. Not sure about mother/son.

We’re using My Wish by Rascall Flatts, I don’t know if that’s what you mean by modern. We’re doing our father/daughter and mother/son dance together. So I didn’t want a song special to just me and my dad.
