My FI is in charge of the music and we are not really having a “dance” wedding. If you want, you can just skip all the special dances, except the first dance, of course! For our first dance, we’re using Warmness on the Soul by Avenge Sevenfold, but that’s “our” song, so it make sense. There are lots of songs to choose from, it just depends on how “sappy” you want it. I think a classy choice is “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, but you could always go “I Knew I Loved You” by Savage Garden too!

We danced to After All by Cher and Peter Cetera, very fitting for us.
My Mom and I danced to My Wish – I think RAscal Flatts
My husband danced (well his mom is in a wheelchair) but he did a good job to Chances are by Johnny Mathis – one of her favorites.
We walked into the hall to Once in a lifetime by Stevie Wonder. Didn’t want an in your face entrance!! BUT –
We got bamboozled by our DJ who had everyone stand in a circle around us pretending to be waves (got married a month earlier at the beach) and then BAM he played Party Rock Anthem in the middle of the circle we were!!!!!!! He had to go with it!!!!!!!!!
Hope any of that helps you!

I am having trouble thinking of a father/daughter dance song, but “In My Daughters Eyes” by Martina McBride always gets me.
If you get a list together, maybe send your FFIL the options and see what he thinks. It might be nice to get his opinion if one song will really touch him in some way.

THere’s always “Butterfly Kisses” for the father/daughter dance too. Very popular about 10 years ago, but I haven’t heard it at a wedding in ages….

- Wedding: June 2010 - New York Botanical Garden
I’m not directly answering your question, but I have found the sure-fire song mix for getting your entire party dancing is “Living on a Prayer” -> “Twist” -> “Shout!” Never fails!

for our first dance, we’re using “the way you look tonight” the steve tyrell version.
bridal party dance is “crazy love” by michael buble
father/daughter is “sunshine of my life” by stevie wonder

My dad and I danced to “What a wonderful world” (Louis Armstrong version). I chose it because it was sweet, but not uncomfortably sappy. Good luck!
