  • Wedding: June 2010

I think I have some information that may help you. I am also looking for sponsors for my wedding in June of 2010. I started about a month ago, but so far, I have received huge discounts on my engagment photos, wedding pictures, and have received over $200 bucks in donations. It’s not much, but every little bit counts. You can contact me personally at [email protected]

The major obstacle here is: what will the vendors get out of this?

Do you have any friends/family/coworkers getting married soon?  You could offer to pass on their advice for a discount, or set up a discount based on the number of friends that sign with them.

– Do you work in an industry where you use wedding vendors?  If you’re in charge of parties at work, you could set up a caterer or DJ with another job.  If you manage a children’s clothing store, you could display discount photographer coupons or free offers in your store.  Think outside the box!

– Also look for people who are new.  This doesn’t necessarily mean inexperienced!  They could have just moved, be starting their own business after having worked in the industry for a long time, etc.  They will be offering great deals, and sometimes even freebies in order to get experience for their portfolio and recommendations/reviews.

– Do you have a website or blog that people frequently visit?  If you offer advertising space on your website, you have to be able to show figures about how many relevant hits you get for the potential advertiser.  If you have a high traffic site, offering them advertising is a great move!

– Use your resources!  Maybe you don’t have a website or need vendors, but you know someone who does.  Don’t be afraid to ask for help.  People understand how expensive weddings are, and they want your dream to come true too.
