Question on wedding start time. We are getting married on a roof terrace in Manhattan on October 25, 2014. I am trying to firm up a start time. The sun sets at 6:02 that day. Should we start the ceremony at 5, 5:30 or 6? Cocktail hour is immediately following on the roof then reception is immediately following in the loft downstairs. We have the space all night and were thinking of having the reception end at midnight. Any suggestions are welcome!!!

Are you doing pictures before (because pictures after the sun sets might not be ideal). I personally would do 5. It can get chilly in October, particularly in the evening. You don’t want your ceremony to be in the dark, or the guests to be uncomfortable in the cocktail hour.

Hey! We have the same wedding date, except I am having mine in the morning instead of sunset for that particular reason. I’d say start around 5pm in case of delays etc… the lighting should be pretty around that time.

mgbser: We are doing pictures before! 🙂 Since our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception are all in the same place, we felt it would be easier to do a first look and take care of pictures. That way we can enjoy the night with friends and family 🙂
