Did anyone else do a timeline of events for their wedding day?
I started doing one over this past weekend so I can give a copy to my DJ so he would know when to announce and certain songs for those things and whatnot.
But I am finding that I not only know exactly how everything goes in what order but also that I feel at ease doing this because I will not be lost on that day because I will be so busy doing everything else and mingling amongst the guest and dancing!
Any suggestions or ideas to give?
We’re doing an evening wedding, ceremony starting at 6:30 reception ending at 10:55 so we can start breaking down the cleaning and stuff.
Mostly a DIY wedding with help from family members doing certain things.

A ‘day of’ timeline is essential, so bravo! It sounds like you are totally on top of your timeline, so you will have a much happier and glitch-free day! Make sure all of your vendors get a pre-copy so if they have any conflicts or changes you have time to update it. Then make sure everyone in the wedding party, venue contact, and all vendors get a finalized copy. Highlight or color code which family members need to be where when and doing what. Mine even had a ‘whose car has who in it’ and when they were expected to leave where they were staying. Mine also had notes for any service notes (for example, if you wanted a course served in a particular way, or some food or beverage not brought out until a particular time). You are in great shape 🙂

I am doing a timeline as well… it’s pretty much done except for a few tweaks (still need to double check with caterer for when they thingk best time is for starting dinner service). But I have it down, just need it finalized.

My wedding is pretty laid back.
Fiance’s godmother & aunt is doing all of our food, they offered as our wedding gift so I gave them a small menu and they can tweak it as they like. I am not going to stress over that. His godmother is a director for a catering service, has been for like 20 years. So I know they can handle it. Otheriwse, we would have done the food ourselves. (Buffet style foods).
Decorating we’re doing ourselves just renting some things. They allow us the hall the day before to decorate 🙂
Videographer & DJ are the main “vendors” that I am paying to do anything other than the Justice of the Peace who will do our ceremony 🙂
My cousin is doing our pictures so I have a seperate list for her that includes a few pictures I stole off line of pictures I would like to do 🙂
It’s coming along very nicely and I can’t wait!
