7 is pretty late, yes. But if ceremony is fairly short and the reception is at the same site and there is no break between (seriously, you probably don’t need a cocktail hour at 8pm) then it can probably be done. My only concern is that your guests probably skipped dinner in order to travel to your event so you don’t want to starve them while you take pictures, do a bunch of speeches, etc.

I’m thinking of having very light refreshments during our ceremony for the same reason. Our guests will likely have skipped lunch in order to be on time for our 2pm ceremony and we don’t want anyone passing out while they wait for dinner (which will not be served until after 4)

How much is it to rent it for the full day? I personally would want to rent it for the full day – 7:30 is pretty late for a ceremony, even if you do photos before hand, if you’re going to serve a meal and have dancing and get it all in before midnight.

We’re having ceremony and reception in the same location – almost all photos taken before the wedding. Ceremony is at 5:30, reception goes until 11. I already feel like that’s going to be a wee bit tight. And we have access all day, my decor will be being worked on all day.

My venue is similar, it’s 6-12 but they let us get there hours before to set the place up. Are you sure yours isn’t the same? If not, just rent it for the whole day if you can afford it. Why stress? 730 isn’t too late but it’s just not enough time if people have to be out of there by midnight

Well, what about setup and breakdown? I mean, who breaks it down? And if your setup time is included in the time you bought, what’s happening between 4 and 6? Seems if someone had the place on the early shift, then their cleanup time had to be included in that.

I think that place is a rip off, trying to get you to pay for the day in segments like that.  I’d look around for other venues who will let you have the whole day.

That seems weird. they really expect people to not set up until 6pm when most dinners atart at 6?
