Oh thanks for posting!  Very interesting!  I always wondered why they pinned handkerchiefs to the bride and groom in Orthodox weddings—never knew it was to catch the tears of the bride!

One other tradition was to put a sixpence or penny in the bride’s shoe.  My mom and sister did this, but I will be wearing sandals and wont be able to (unless i tape it in there).  I’ll have to ask her why they did this tradition.

I love wedding and family traditions! 

@honeybeelove:  You shoul.d definitely ask but either way, I think thats really neat you have a tradition like that! it may be for luck as a penny for some reason usually symbolizes luck or maybe for wealth but either way its a beautiful tradition!

 

I wish I had a family tradition but I am not sure if there is one or not in mine. I go by all of the good luck traditions.
