That is my area! Someone was just telling me last night about the Ajax convention center? I’ve seen pictures of weddings at the Lake House and they looked beautiful.

kayjaymc:  is $5k your venue budget or total budget for everything? My friend had a backyard BBQ wedding for ~75 guests in a town an hour away from Toronto, and made it in under $5k. It is doable, but requires creativity.

She hired a pub that doesn’t usually cater to do the food, and they used their suppliers. Her dress cost less than $50 on sale at the Bay, there was a DJ playlist, friendors as free photographers, and tons of booze we ordered from the LCBO and served ourselves. Probably one of my favourite weddings to date, but definitely non-traditional.

We went to Lakehouse when we were looking and were pretty impressed with their prices. It’s definitely worth  taking a look! They have a detailed booklet they give you with prices for everything and some recommended florists/dj’s etc in the area as well!

kayjaymc:  i had booked my wedding there years ago with my ex fi. we had about 100 ppl and we took the top floor for the lake house. the deposit (at that time) was $2500. it was averaged (with open bar, appies and dinner) to be about $80pp. that was just food. no flowers, no decor, no dj, nothing. now that WAS years ago so things could of changed. we also went off season so they didn’t charge us a room rental fee. i also liked deer creek golf club in ajax. little bit off the beaten path, but its worth checking out. i went there a few times for weddings/new years parties and it was lovely.

I didn’t look anywhere at the east end of the city, but I can tell you that everything I looked at in the west end was pretty high.  Granted I had an incredibly difficult FH to work with – he was very very very picky.
