Hey Goks,
Yay! Another LI bride
. I knew there had to be more of us. A friend of a friend had her wedding at the Crescent Beach Club, which is on the sound. My friend who attended said it was lovely.
Bourne Mansion! That's where our wedding is. We're having 250 and it has water views and the whole ambiance is amazing.
You should check out Land's End in Sayville, NY. The website does not do the place justice!!
Land's End only has one wedding at a time and accomodates well over 250 people.
Hello! I'm getting married at the Crescent Beach Club (Bayville, NY) which is a beautiful and located right on the LI Sound. In fact your outdoors ceremony can be right on the deck of their private beach. We're having a smaller wedding (120ppl) but their ballroom definitely can accomodate +200ppl.
I'll also suggest Land's End, Harbor Club, Venetian Yacht Club and Flowerfields. Good luck!
We just recently went to a wedding in Lindenhurst, NY. It was at Chateau La Mer. It was probably one of the most beautiful weddings I have been to. It was right on the water and the service was fantastic!
Here is the website: http://www.chateaulamercatering.com/weddings/welcome.html
Lombardis on the Sound is beautiful, and all Lombardi's restaurants and foods are great!!
Yay!!! LI brides! Been trying to find some 2011 LI brides but no one has replied
Im hoping to get a lot ideas from u guys since Im going to be all alone on this.
If I could find a post that is up-to-date.
@MrsFernandez : Hello 2011 LI bride! 10/09/11 over here! Congrats and welcome!
@TrixieStix: OMG! hello! Would you PLEASE tell me what have you found/done so far? lol. Im so stressed because I feel like Im waay behind!
I posted something in june 2011 about why I havent even started planning yet! Need advice def!
@MrsFernandez : ha ha...not sure how much advice i can give this being my first wedding lol. We've set a date, booked the venue (we're having the ceremony & reception at the same place). I've already bought my dress which wasn't really planned on but it was such a great deal i couldn't say no so it's sitting at my sister's house in her closet. We already have our bridal party (3 BM, 1 MOH and the same on his side). My FI thinks some of it is a little too early...he technically hasn't asked his best man but it's his best friend so it's a given. My MOH (my sister) and I actually checked out a florist last week just to see. At this time there are obviously things i can't do yet like save the dates or invites even though we have a set date it's just a little early. Don't sweat, there's definitely no set "time-frame" for where you should be in your planning. Personally I needed a theme for my wedding (i'm big on themes in general) and everything else sort of fell into place.
@TrixieStix: Oh thanks for sharing! I've checked some of the venues on this post. But in the end I think we're gonna end up trying to pull together a wedding in tow months or less!!! Let's how that goes! lol
*Would love to see your venue :) *
@MrsFernandez :it's the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. It was everything I didn't want -no mirrors, no laquer, no rugs...just something clean.
@MrsFernandez : Hey! I am getting married on LI in October. Infact, I am having to change EVERYTHING 4 months before my wedding because my guest list is too small. Have you found a venue yet? I can recommend my original one, it is gorgeous and you can not beat it for the price!
@Marrying_A_Yankee: Sorry for the extremely late response! I tried to reply the other day but it kept saying that my comment was "blank"!
Anyway, we changed things a little too! We already got married and we ended up having the perfect backyard, spring wedding we wanted from the beginning. Very simple, but we really enjoyed it.
Before deciding to do things sooner we visited a few venues. My favorite was Jericho Terrace: it's a beautiful venue, very elegant. All your wedding photos will be perfect there! And they were great with us, gave us all the information we wanted and explained every little detail. Plus, they gave us a book to help us organize everything better. This book also has a list of wedding vendors that have worked with them for 30+ years. The price at this place was really not bad compared to other venues that weren't as great as this one and they were willing to work with us to come up with an even better price!
We also saw The Floral Terrace. Didn't like the location. They do only one event at a time and that makes their price higher. They didn't even try to explain anything, at least that was my impression.
Also, Sand Castle (I think Sand Castle and Floral Terrace are owned by the same people/company) it a beautiful wedding but they wouldn't even let us in because they were booked up for the rest of the year!!! I went in March and there wasn't one day they didn't have an event until the beginning of 2012!!!
My brother used a search engine specialized for catering and event services to book his wedding. It actually worked out really, really well and the hall we ended up using was absolutely gorgeous. My aunt actually said it was one of the best weddings she has ever seen and she knows her stuff. I suggest checking online for booking a hall, particularly the catering halls on Long Island.
I'm having mine at Sans Souci in Sea Cliff, NY :) It's set up on a hill directly across from Tappen Beach! Our ceremony will be outside with the water views and when you get into the venue, it's completely lined with oversized glass windows and minimal drapery so all you see is the water! It's beautiful!!

@genabrown: That is a gorgeous view! We keep our boat at Tappen, and live in Roslyn. We looked at Sans Souci online but I wasn't sure if it was too small so we went with Swan Club, right up the road :)
Bayville, huh? I love Bayville. We had our first "grown up" date there...I say that because we knew each other in college, lost touch for 22 years and reconnected 3 years ago...our wedding is Aug 25 :)

hey,
I am having my wedding in New York and am not from there. We are looking for a venue in Long Island that has water views (sound or lake) views with lots of natural beauty for a 200 person wedding.
Any ideas?
