@misstreble: I am using a newly renovated 1840s church called the Indiana Landmarks Center on the old Northside. It's priced well and has a sanctuary that isn't used as a church anymore, no altar or anything, so it might be good for you. It also has a GORGEOUS reception venue attached. No preferred caterer so you don't get roped in to an expensive one.

We are getting married at the Indiana Statehouse Rotunda. It is beautiful! I wasn't really into the whole church thing either, mainly because mine wasn't available and it felt weird getting married in a strange church. I see your date is Sept 2012, me too! 09.08.12.
@Tstar717: Would you be willing to share the cost on the rental for this space? It is beautiful! I already have a venue booked, but my deposit is refundable for the next few months and I really like this place, especially that you don't have to use a specific caterer! If you don't want to share on here, you could PM me. I'd really appreciate it!
Someone messaged me questions about how the seating would work at the state house. I couldn't put the pictures in a message to them, so I'm posting it here. Here are some examples I found online of seating there. When we talked to our coordinater, she said you can also do it with a ceremony kind of in the middle with four sections of chairs surrounding you.
If you're fine with an area outside but nearby Indy, consider the Ritz Charles, Mustard Seed Gardens, and the Mill Top. All are in the Carmel/Noblesville area.

I'm not sure if you are still looking for a venue, and I am having my wedding and reception at The Ritz Charles in the Carmel area. At first I thought they were on the pricey end, and then I saw what all was included and was blown away! They are amazingly easy to work with and very flexible!

My fiancee and I are interested in a cheaper wedding venue in Indy or the surrounding area. We want to have around 100-150 guests. We are agnostic and not thrilled about marrying in a church. We would prefer to marry and have the reception in one location. Thanks!
