@SoontobeMrsKCee:

The Grandview- Fabulous! Very highly regarded venue in the area. There are free shuttles back and forth to the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel (also a great venue, check it out!). I have nothing but good things to say about this place.

The Dutchess Manor- I personally know the owners, gorgeous views, delicious food, great customer service. The only issue is there aren’t many hotels close by. (Fishkill is 15 minutes away or so, so def do able!)

Arbor Ridge- I’ve never been but haven’t heard the best reviews…I just can’t get over the fact that this is the spot that used to be the diner that I ended up at most weekends in high school/early college.

Villa Borghese- We looked here and I wasn’t impressed, the views are of….a parking lot. They also have 2-3 events at a time. That said I have friends who loved it.

The Roundhouse- You are probably out of luck here for next fall. Its very popular and from what I’ve heard they are all booked up for awhile!

I got married at Saint Columba Church in Hopewell (wonderful) and my reception was at Christos on Wilbur Blvd in the town of Poughkeepsie. It was FABULOUS! very reasonably priced, delicious food and a lot of things included (all linens, center pieces, cake). I would check it out, the owner is wonderful and attentive. We had the perfect day.

@SoontobeMrsKCee:  I really encourage you to give Christos a call. Their price is $100 per person and that includes tax, gratuity etc. A lot of places tack on tax, venue fees, gratuity etc etc and you think you are getting a great deal but all of a sudden you aren’t bc of all the extra fees. This is what happened with us at Villa Borghese, it was something like $80 per person for the package we wanted but once we added all the fees it was like $125. With Christos the price is what it is. Their website isn’t the greatest but take a look in person. Its on a beautiful golf course- my pictures were amazing! They also only do one wedding at a time and are super flexible with times bc you are the only one there for the whole day. Since Christos is in Poughkeepsie and we had our ceremony in Hopewell we stopped up at Waryus park for pictures and have gorgeous shots of the bridges in the background and then fabulous pictures on the grounds at Christos. If you have your ceremony there they have a beautiful porch thats glass on 3 sides with beautiful views- can you tell I loved it there?

I went to a wedding at the Surf Club in New Rochelle and it was fabulous! It was a huge Italian wedding and they spared no expense and we had a fabulous time.

I’ve never been to the Villa Barone in Mahopac but the Hudson Valley board on the knot always has great reviews from people so its probably worth checking out.

I can’t remember what diner was where Arbor Ridge is now, it was right in the same building they just renovated it into a banquet hall. We used to hang out at Goodfellas down the road then stop at the diner on the way home- the good old days!

PS- I also grew up in Wappingers, did you go to Jay or Ketchum?

I grew up near Bear Mountain, I love the lodge.  Never been for a wedding, but it would be perfect for a rustic fall wedding.

We got married at Dutchess Manor and were extremely happy! It is family owned and they are just really great people.  Their staff is also amazing and you can totally tell that they are treated like family- which we loved to see. The views are beautiful! The food is awesome- one of the brothers is the chef and he really knows what he is doing. I highly recommend Dutchess Manor!

Grandview- I’ve been to one wedding at the Grandview and was really impressed! We considered it, but wanted something just a little different.

@SoontobeMrsKCee:  Christos is actually right off route 9- only a 10 minute drive from Villa Borghese which could be worth the savings! Also- he doesn’t care how many people you have (as long as you have 100) there are no minimums to pay for etc. I believe you can have up to 300 or something. We invited 240ish I forget how many attended.

Good luck at the Manor, the owners wife is one of my moms best friends they are super nice there.

While I dont have much advice to offer, I will say that I have been to events at Villa Borghese (my prom) and Villa Barone,  they both very nice I am not sure how they are price wise.  Both I believe hold mutiple events at once which is why I never looked at them.

I took a look at Colonial Terrace and agree that their pricing was very attractive but it was the feel I was going for. The guy there was SO nice though and a friend of the family acutally works in the kitchen the food is great!

I ultimately found a hidden gem about a mile away from Colonial Terrace though  🙂

I looked at all of these locations online, but we really needed to be in Poughkeepsie. We are at Locust Grove, which is amazing and has a fantastic view, but is expensive because you need to bring in so much stuff (they don’t do catering or anything). I have been to an event at the Grandview, and it has a gorgeous view but the ballroom is really big, and the events in the ballroom and the tent share the bathroom.

I actually had an insanely good tour at the Links at Union Vale, its super reasonably priced and has a gorgeous view of the hills. http://www.thelinksatunionvale.com/

Also, just so you know, I looked at venues in May for summer 2013, and I found that lots of my favorite venues were booked. Try to be flexible about dates if you can, since lots of the Hudson Valley venues book up super early!
