My understanding is most videographers give you the raw footage of the entire wedding, unedited. The 5 min clips I think you’re talking about is the edited highlight clip which showcases the “major” moments of the day.

The 5 min vids are just highlights or a trailer. The real video is typically around 30 mins. Some videographers give you the raw footage, others don’t. if this is something you want, make sure to ask when interviewing/booking.

We got a preview movie that was 6 minutes, and a full movie which was 20. Our video guys also broke up the ceremony, the toasts and the super 8 footage as separate videos. They were amazing!

We got a 4 minute edited highlight video and all the raw footage. I’ve been able to go in and edit the raw footage and I love watching it all.

Three years ago very few videographers were giving the raw footage.  I am glad things have changed and so many are getting it.

Noble3:  Our videographer made us a highlight video, and then we got an hour long edited video on DVD with the full ceremony and toasts from the reception with audio. They also provide the raw footage for free on a hard drive that we provide–we sent the hard drive in last week and should be getting it soon, so we will have the entire day pretty much! Check around with lots of videographers to see if they can do this for you. I think it’s totally worth it!

We received an almost 7 minute highlight video and an hour and a half edited documentary of the whole wedding day. We hired them for 9 hours but who wants to watch 9 hours of raw footage?

We received a 5 minute highlight film about a month and a half from our wedding date and then 6 months later got an edited DVD consisting of or entire ceremony, grand entrances, first dance, father/daughter mother/son dances, speeches, cake cutting, and a bonus clip of my husband and I jamming out to paradise by the Dashboard light. Sometimes I do wish we got raw footage because I know there were a lot of memorable parts I wish I could see again.
