I was wondering if any of you that have/will elope(d) has had a wedding video (perhaps a link to your video)?. I guess most will have a photographer but I was wondering if you all thought having a video would be over the top since you and FH would be the only people in the video really. Does it make is full of ourselves if we have one? Or is it a nice-to-have so that we can share the long video or highlights with people. Is there really enough to shoot at an elopement?
Thanks for your opinions and also for sharing, for those who choose to.

lena_k_29: I did not get a video, but I did look into it a little bit and decided I just didn’t want to add on costs. Now days videos are so much more artistic and stunning cinematagraphy. It might be kind of over the top, but I think your wedding day is OK! I think it’s just a personal thing. Photos were enough for me though.
I have seen a few elopement videos out there. This couple got married a couple months before us (in winter, ours was in summer), so that’s how I know about this one. Sure helps if it’s a pretty area to film!
If you google, you’ll see other videos for elopements. Most of the time it’s the area, anything they are doing earlier in the day, etc.

lena_k_29: I think a video is a great way to share the day with family that missed it. Im sure they would love to see it, and i do not think it makes you full of yourself!
This is one of my favorite elopement videos. They made a wedding music video and surprised their friends and family! http://vimeo.com/28170549

No, it doesn’t mean you’re full of yourself at all.
Wedding videos aren’t about or for guests; they are to document the wedding. You’re having a wedding, so you can have videography if you want to. It’s not over the top at all; it’s a standard part of the whole process, really.
If you don’t want to pay a bunch of money for a video, you can rent or borrow a camera, if you don’t already have one, and set it up in a good place. Wedding videos done this way are actually very nice, in my opinion. I actually think they tend to look better and capture the wedding in a much more satisfying way.

I think that it is a wonderful idea. This is especially true for the people who were not there, but would love to see it!!! I am having an intimate 50 people wedding, and I would like a videographer.

Hi,

We got married in August, with just 5 guests. Not a true ‘elopement’, but a tiny wedding!

Our rainforest wedding
