- Wedding: November 2013
My fi and I were thinking of doing our vows a little differently. Instead of taking turns to read our vows to each other, we would write them together and then one would say the first sentence, the other the second, and so forth.
We are thinking of doing this because we are both quite shy, we want the personalised vows but don’t want to make them repetitive for our guests to hear and because our celebrant said we could do anything that we wanted!
Here is what we have so far (A VERY rough draft) and there are some tense issues, but you get the idea. Thoughts??
Him: I take you Cupcakelove to be my wife
Me: I take you Fi to be my husband
Him: I will be your loving friend as you are mine.
Me: I will support and encourage you as you support and encourage me.
Him: We pledge to nurture, trust and respect each other throughout our married life together. We shall be open and honest, understanding and accepting, loving and forgiving, and loyal to one another.
Me: Together, we shall create a home filled with learning, laughter and compassion, a home wherein we will honour each other’s traditions and values.
Him: I promise to always try your cooking and never complain that you made a chocolate cake, even though I don’t like chocolate
Me: I recognise your love of sport and promise to always let you watch the Essendon games, occasionally watch you play cricket and understand that you will always watch Leeds on the tv at 2am, even if it is a weekday.
Him: I promise to love and care for you always
Me: I promise to love and care for you always
Him: May this agreement, and the wearing of our rings, remind us of the hopes we have shared and the promises we have made together on this day.
Me: I promise you this from my heart, for all the days of my life.
