My FI and I are building our own wedding website and trying to find a place where we can host it for less than $50.  It seems that everywhere we've looked (yahoo, godaddy) are expensive for year one, but then they go down.  We only want our website up for a year.  Please let me know if any of you also created your own website (instead of using a template) and who is hosting yours.  Thanks!

I purchased my business domain name from godaddy.com for $10, and host it on Microsoft Office Live for free.

    Hope that helps!

I also used go daddy... found an online code so it was only $8 for the year.  THen I used Weebly to build the site (free).  PM me and I'll share the link. I looked at many of the "wedding" sites and they were insanely expensive and very rigid.

I used e-wedding. I found an online coupon so I believe it only cost me $40 for the year including personalized domain name. It was so much easier than creating a page myself and it's flash and looks top notch.

If you are building it yourself and just need a cheap host, check out dreamhost.com or hostcherry.com (those are both pretty cheap and capable of hosting html pages.

It'll be cheaper (and probably more interactive/fun) to use a do-it-yourself tool like weebly.com, or momentville.com.

Why are you wanting to build and host it yourself rather than using a d-i-y service?
