i did ours about a week after we got engaged. i don't think there's a specific timeline as to when you do it, but i wanted it live when the save the dates went out (so that we could refer people to the website).

Probably at the latest by when you send your invitations, if part of the purpose is to let people know where you registered.
I've loved weddingwindow, and I spent extra to buy our own domain name. Make your site ASAP, as planning and life get busy and you want this up and perfect when the STDs go out

LOVE it. I made ours in January 2008 for a September 2008 event.
I'd have to go with weddingwindow.com as well. Although, mywedding.com is a good backup!

I'm using www.weddingannouncer.com it's free and you can download and keep a copy of your website after the wedding is over at no charge.
I created ours when we sent out our STD's.

I've seen people create them at all times during the engagement, but a lot of couples create it when they send out the save-the-dates, so they can include the URL on there.
I like wedding announcer as well. totally free and user friendly.

I use www.mywedding.com
It's free, very user-friendly, and they have some really cute templates. You can view some of their sample websites.
we used yahoo site builder b/c we wanted to buy our own url -- mrandmrsonion.com instead of mywedding/mrandmrsonion king of thing. they had a number of wedding templates and you don't have to know anything about HTML to make it look nice. i'd highly recommend it.
we made ours in time for our std's -- so about 10 months before the wedding. i'd say start working on it anytime now.

Any suggestions on how much in advance of thewedding a website should be created (wedding is in Dec 2008)? Also any suggestions as to which websites are the best- like theknot.com, etc. ??? Thanks!
