@b00kbug: I’m guessing that you probably aren’t actually failing. How much weight have you lost and in how much time? Perhaps you had unrealistic goals for yourself. 

Also, you may have lost inches instead of pounds. Have you been noticing a difference in the way your clothing is fitting?

@b00kbug: If you are doing all the right things (which it sounds like you are) I would check with your doctor. Maybe they can change your BC or something.

Deep breaths! You’ve made it further than many people do who start a new diet/work out plan…you’re past the first day and you’ve lost weight! To me that’s the hardest part. I was watching the today show this morning and they were showing women who all lost over 100lbs and they all said it was persistance and hard work. And it is, this is the hard part when you feel like you’re getting nowhere. But you haven’t caved and you’re not failing.

Have you thought about switching your BCP? You have a good amount of time to lose weight in a healthy way. Whenever I’m frustrated, walking, running some type of cardio helps me burn steam and I know I’m bettering myself instead of eating junk food or something that prevents me from getting to my goal.

@b00kbug: Well it’s great that you’ve found that weight lifting works for you and 10 pounds is a big deal! I hope that helps keep you motivated! Try to remember that weight lifting will build muscle and muscle is heavier than fat. As a result, when you are weight lifting, you are probably being more effective than your scale will reflect.

Throw out your scale!!!  Like What Lemma said, It is more than likely inches instead of pounds. I started working out last Oct and I felt like I was getting no where because I wasn’t losing any weight… Well I was but I was gaining mussel in its place. I dropped 2 sizes of jeans yet I was maybe 15 lbs lighter.

What helped me was I stoped focusing on the number and the scale and started focusing on how I felt and how my clothes fit.

Then don’t do it. Dieting is never really a good idea, in my opinion. Healthy lifestyle changes are worth making permanently.

If you’re building muscle, the scale is not necessarily a good indicator of how successful you’ve been.  You can plateau weight-wise, but still have dropped a couple sizes just because you’ve built muscle.  The weight lifting will help kick your metabolism into high gear.

Sorry its been so hard!  Have you considered joining weight watchers?  I am liking it a lot so far.  You can do online or meetings now.
