I got the same dumb CNN popover ad. No way to close it, and no way to do anything else like scroll past it, either.

Yep.  Finally got rid of the App Store add ( u posted about that a few weeks ago) and now it’s the CNN ad, that keeps taking over and replaying. Can’t get out off it.

I don’t mind pop ups or ads, but these hijacking ads are intrusive and make it hard to use the site. I actually just gave up twice and left the site after repeated cnn ads.,

Yessssss! It happened like 3 times earlier today while I was browsing on my phone (and pretty much locked the whole thing up) and it just happened again when I started browsing on my iPad. I was just about to start a post about this when I saw yours. I understand ads, but I hate hate hate the ones that are full screen and that pop up on mobile devices. they almost always lock up my device or I end up clicking on the stupid thing while trying to exit and get taken to the app store to download something. I was already annoyed by the increased amount of ads (especially they really spammy looking personilized ones) after Weddingbee went through “the change”. This makes me even more grumpy about using this site even though I like the content 🙁

I never see any ads on here or on any site, because I have Ad Blocker. Is there something like that you can get? Sorry if that’s a dumb question aha, I don’t have an iPad.

I also have Adblocker installed for my browser, and I never see ads. Not sure if you can get that exact thing on a mobile device, but there’s got to be something similar.

RedWine13:  oops, I meant that I posted about it. But I didn’t even realize my comment posted, let alone have a chance to edit it, because as I hit add comment, I got an error message. Sorry for misunderstanding! 🙂

sugarpea:  ad blocker app that I tried didn’t work for me. Ad blocker is great on desktop, but there isn’t an equivalent for mobile devices thst workd on these App Store ads. Whole forums are dedicated to the obnoxiousness of the App Store ads.

I figured out how to keep it from taking me to the App Store automatically. I posted it in my complaint at the times, it involves disabling settings on your device.

the cnn ad takes over, you can’t click out of it or get back to the site without retyping the URL into the browser.
